Manager Bell says: ;
The Gem played to standing room
only Saturday night. The Imp pic-
tures, of course, ^ere the .attraction.
It was a fine program. * You misstd a
treat if you didn’t attend. Y Todays
program is as good as the Gem has
ever hadij “Bill’s Widow/; a Cham-
pion comedjy, is one that all frill en-
joy. “The taw and the Man,” by the
Nestor Film Co., is a western picture,
and one of jthe best by this film com-
pany. .‘“The Straw Ride.”-by the At-
las Film company, is one of theit1 best
featured films. As you sit beside
your “best gal” in the old bob sled
filled with straw, your thoughs are
not with the troubles of yesterday,
but centered on the joys of tonight.
Then you reach the big red barn, and
the fun begins. The fiddler begins to
tone up, and before you know it you
are whirling-around with Mandy, then
with some other girl, and finally your
partner.4 Of course some critter in
the party spoils the fun by getting
jealous, but to carry you along with
the rest of the story would only be
telling .you what you already know,
so come tonight and you will know it
all.

another comedy picture on the same

bv the Vitagraph company is a drama
in which the heights of pathos arc
reached, and one cannot resist the
tender emotions and sentiments in-

hold the attention from the beginning
to the end.

with the high-class music always fur-

Ode to Washington.
The following ode was composed
and read by a Palestine lady before
the Daughters of the American Revo-
lution and members of the High
School:
Righteous Judge—yet thou dost wear
In thy human heart, a pity so great
That those who must thy displeasure
fear 1
Ivnow that mercy also shall on them
wait.
•Just Friend—In thy large kindness
,So much justness is concealed, v
That even those who stand nearest
Know that their unworthiness is re-
vealed.
True Patriot—Ev^r ready in thy couri-
' -try’s need
To give of thv.^ power, thy means
and .love.
Using thy great strength to set her
free.
And humbly trusting in the God
above.
y - • . v
Great Leader—As we look upon thy
face ' : .
i And see the inward light upon it
shine, ‘ . . , •
A light reflected from God’s benignant
grace,
We think thee not wholly human,
but half divine.
