The above is one of the numerous
ltelodtanias nnd musical comedies which
pevade this portion of the country and
serve their turn ns a sort of background
to tho plays that 6oek to combine some-
thing of the elements of consistent
dramatization and acting except that
tho present play i3 a species of

Sng a theatrical season in a leading point
of the Southwest and should not detract
from other excellent troupes and dramas
that come also
This afternoon and tonight Held by
the Enemy will be Riven This is what
the Louisville Commercial says of it
The play was seen here last season
when It was regarded as tho very best
drama yet produced by an American
author Slnco then Mr Gillette has re-
written the third act adding largely to
the strength and effectiveness of the
story and making It ns ft
whole more complete nnd en-
joyable One of the changes most
noticeable is the army headquarters
scenes where now a bombardment is
made to tnke place and au exploding
bomb wrecks one of tho walls uud shat-
ters the houses This with the clatter-
ing of horses hoofs and the battle orders
Klrei makes one of tho strongest most
natural and effective scenes ever seen on
the stage Held by tho Enemy Is a
grnnd production and the author has
been successful In writing a play founded
on the oivil war yet fret
and devoid of prejudice IIo
has beeu ablo to delicately construct
a plot without wounding the feelings
or sensibilities of any whether they
have been evmpnthizers of the blue or
the gray The play is full of romance
humor and pathos the actions quick and
the climaxes natural and thrilling It
will stand at tho Lead of American
dramas of its class for many years to
come Those who have seen it beloro
will appreciate the obanzes made and
eujov it again those who have not teen
it will bo the losers if they neglect tho
present opportunity offered

THE REVIVAL
Revival Ffrvicfi at the Ccnberlena
rreibylrrlan cbcreli Closed
Last Night
The revival meeting last night at th
Cumberland Presbyterian church was a
most interesting one
Rev Mr Robinson chose for his tax
Deut xxxll 1112 As an eaglestirreth
up her nest fluttereth over her young
spreadeth abroad her wings tuketh
them beareth them on her wings so the
Lord alone did lead hlra nnd there wns
no stranze God with him
The revivalist explained the manner of
building the nest by the eazlo showing
that all the sticks etc point upward
so all the blessings of God point upward
Then ngiin the eagle 6tirreth up her
nest for if the little eaglets were left in
their nest they would set so lazv that
they would never learn how to flv so the
Lord briuseth persecution upon His chil-
dren who have wondered away to s ir
them up that they may bs strong and ily
to the very heavens
Then finally said the prenohor I
have watched the cades tly awav during
a storm Tho old mother would lend
while the young would spread their wing
and follow and higher and higher they
would fly tar above thp cloud und lloat
there in suiuhiuo So the Christian who
follows Christ will fly higher nnd higher
above tho clouds and trials of this world
and dwell in tho light and sunshine of
Gods countenance
As the beiitinz appnrntus of tho church
precluded the holding of services in the
auditorium it was nunounced that the
revival services were closed with regret
After services every person went for-
ward and shook hands end thnnked Kev
Mr Robinson and Professor Hill for
what they had done and all were sad
that their stay was so short
They will leave Fort Worth tomorrow
morning and go to Atlanta Gu where
they expect to hold a series of meetings

Euitoi Gazette
The Gazette of the 33th of November
contains a communication from Paris
Tex headed Quannh Parker the well
known Comanche chief inciting various
tribes to mischief nnd claims for its
author a deputy marshal named Cook
The statement made by Deputy Marshal
Cook from the way the paragraph reads
are not stated ns hearsay but nre given
as facts that he knows to bs true
I will say the whole statement Is a
fabrication What design anybody could
have in making such statements I can-
not see I will state for the benefit of
the anxious public that I have uot aw
tended any ghost dauce with the Chey
ennes nor have I been to visit my red
brother of the North Sitting Bull or
know auv more about the Indian
on tho Cheyenne reservation or In
Sitting Bulls tribe except what I nra
told thnu if thej were on the other side
of thH big water and will say that but
few of the Comanche Indians pay any
attention to the Messiah craze and those
who do are crazy Some of the Kionuj
are tuking the craze but I dont know
to what extent aud cs for inciting
various tribes to mischief it uould be-
like a crazy man to even think ot such a
thing with the little handful of warriors
that all the tribes could combine and
turn out But my heart has no bud
feeling for tho white men in fact I
think that quite a number of wnite meu
are the warmest friends I have living
today aud beside I have been urging
my people to open farms aud build
houses I bnve opened u farm of over
100 acres and also have a good misture
und have just completed a dwelling that
would be called a good house In moat nuy
country Having just got fixed to live
comfortably 1 would be worse than nn
id ot to incite my people to do something
that would make beggars and vagabonds
of them
I thiuk if people will investigate they
will find that my tribo have shown as
much regard for treaties and contracts
as any other tribe of people ever didand
have for the lost ten years shown as
much respect for the laws and officers of
of law as anybody We hnve been ao
eused of most everything imaginable ex-
cept being fools and people who know
the Comauches havo never credited them
with that With kindest feeling for all
my white brethren I am respectfully
