Minister James Bruster of-
ficiated
The bride is the daughter of
Mr and Mrs H Y Gayle and
the groom is the son of Mr and
Mrs R. E Thorp of Pasadena
An altar arrangement of
yellow and white daisies,
spider mums, gLadiolav mums
and baby's breath with
greenery decorated the com-
munion table One each side
were spiral candelabra with
yellow candles, trimmed in
greenery Antique fern stands
with baskets of Boston fern and
ficus trees completed the
decor
Before the ceremony, music
was provided by the church
chorus Various spiritual selec-
tions were sung. The service
began with the chorus singing
"Whither Thou Goest." Mrs
Harold l-anham of Marshall,
cousin of the bride, sang "I
Love You Truly" and "A Time
For Us" The chorus then sang
the traditional wedding march.
"Faithful and True".
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, chose an empire
gown of poly-organza and Chan-
tilly lace with a Queen Anne
neckline and shepherd's
sleeves The lace bodice was
accented with seed pearls The
A-line skirt of combined organ-
za and chantilly lace ended in a
chapel train encircled with a
lace border Her long silk illu-
sion veil, edged in border lace,
was held with a lace-covered
bandeau headpiece beaded
with seed pearls She earned a
cascade bouquet of yellow and
white rosebuds, daisies and
baby's breath with ecru lace
streamers
For something old. the bride
wore an antique lavaliere
which belonged to her maternal
grandmother She borrowed
her mother's pearl earrings to
complete her ensemble
Meri Gae Burton of la Porte,
cousin of the bride, served as
maid of honor. Bridesmaids
were Jana Henderson of
Houston. Sheryl Van Zandt. Sue
Burgess. Dedee Rowley and
Tracie Roberts Rachael Rain-
bo served as flower girl
The attendants wore long
yellow quiana and chiffon
gowns featuring an empire
waist and scooped neckline
Capes of printed chiffon com-
pleted their attire The atten-
dants' picture hats were
decorated with yellow silk
roses and baby's breath and
each girl carried a nosegay ar-
rangement of yellow roses and
daisies
The flower girl's dress was
identical to the bridesmaids’
and she wore yellow silk
flowers and baby 's breath in
her hair
Richard Thorp of Houston
served his brother as best man
Groomsmen were Danny
Scholz. Allen Sherrill and
Robert Brown, all of
Pasadena: Ron Reaves of San
Antonio, brother-in-law of the
groom; and Barry O'Callaghan
of San Marcos
The groomsmen were attired
in ecru tuxedos with brown
velvet trim.
Geoffrey Gayle, brother of
the bride, and Jay Burton of 1-a
Porte, cousin of the bnde. serv-
ed as ushers Their tuxedos
were chocolate brown with
dark brown velvet trim
The groom wore white tails
For her daughter's wedding,
Mrs Gayle chose a long, teal
blue gown of quiana and chif-
fon. The groom's mother wore
a floor-length gown of yellow
quiana with an Irish crochet
overblouse. Both mothers wore
orchid corsages
Grandparents attending the
ceremony were Mr E. F Reed
of Kingsville, grandfather of
the bnde; Mrs Tiney Gayle of
Kockport and Mrs Anna belle
Yates of San Antonio, grand-
mothers of the bnde; and Mrs
Ruth Winslow, grandmother of
the groom.
Following the ceremony, a
reception was held in the
church annex
The bride's table, covered
with a white eyelet cloth with a
pale yellow underlay, was ac-
cented by silver epergnes filled
with fresh spring flowers of
daisies, mums and baby's
breath with tall white tapers
Greenery encircled a silver
punch bowl. A four-tier cake,
decorated with yellow rosebuds
and wedding bells, was topped
with a miniature bnde and
groom
The groom s table, covered
with an ecru eyelet cloth, held
an arrangement of dned and
silk Rowers in a silver bowl,
flanked by silver candelabra
with walnut brown tapers A
German chocolate cake was
decorated with frosted grapes
Serving at the bride s table

Mrs Uza Stewart of Angleton
and the groom is the son of Mr
and Mrs W. O. Patterson of
Portland.
Wedding music was provided
by Courtney Dugat Mrs Betty
Toland sang "The Wedding
Song'and "Jean".
The bnde. given in marriage
by her grandfather. Tom l.ong
of Paducah, chose a gown of
candlelight peau de sole featur-
ing an empire bodice, a high
neckline and long puffed
sleeves. The slipper-length
princess skirt, appliqued with
Alencon lace, extended into a
chapel-length train. A head-
piece of Alencon lace held her
veil She carried a bouquet of
white silk roses accented with
baby's breath.

Christi served as maid of
honor Bndesmaids were Vicki
Mullenax of Webster and lindy
Smith of Taft
The attendants wore blue
floral organza gowns featuring
a scoop ruffled neckline The>
each carried a single white silk
rose accented with blue ribbon
and baby ’s breath.
Dawn Mires, cousin of the
groom, served as flower girl
