McMURRY COLLEGE BULLETIN
The new addition to the Radford Memorial Auditorium pro-
vides for office and dressing room space, broadcasting studio,
recital theatre and space, broadcasting studio, class rooms, sew-
ing room and ample stage space. The Department possesses
phonographic recording equipment for use in teaching cor-
rective speech, fine public address system,, and its own limited
library. The Theatre, equipped for dramatic production, with
a dimmer switchboard, cycloramas, and a generous amount of
stage scenery and hardward, has acquired an unprecedented
amount of prestige in the last two years, articles concerning
its work having appeared in leading theatrical journals,and
inquiries about its work coming from organizations all over
the country. In addition to its own activities, it sponsors the
appearance on the campus of outstanding platform personali-
ties.

The purpose of Art instruction at McMurry College is to
give specific training in the fundamental principles of Art,
to develop a vital interest in creative expression, to give defi-
nite instructions in art problems, discovering, fostering, and
training creative genius in the gifted student, and to meet
the needs of students majoring in both Painting and Public
School Art.
The art education courses follow closely the course of
study as outlined by the State Board of Education, developing
units which correlate with Education 135 and Children's Litera-
ture.
Requirements for Major Work.-The student who is major-
ing in Drawing and Painting is required to register for 10a, b,
123, 132, 130, 31a, b, and 41a, b, and enough other courses
selected from the department to make a minimum of thirty-six
semester hours. Eighteen semester hours must be advanced,
twelve of which must be classified as advanced composition and
pointing. The student who is majoring in Public School Art
is required to register for 112, 115, 10a, b, 130, 31a, b, 123, and
enough other courses in art to make a minimum of thirty
semester hours, twelve of which shall be advanced.84
