TENTH SUMMER SESSION, 1933
HISTORY
McMurry, a Class A, co-educational, Senior College, is owned
and operated by the Northwest Texas Conference of the Methodist
Episcopal Church, South. The summer school of 1933, the tenth an-
nual summer session, will be divided into two terms of six weeks
each, the first running from June 12 through July 22 and the second
term running from July 24 through August 31.
PURPOSE
The College through the Summer Session has adapted courses
to suit the needs of the following: (1) Regular students who wish
to complete the requirements for graduation in less than four calen-
dar years; or it enables students who have failed in some part of
their class work to make up deficiencies and thus graduate with
their classes. (2) The summer session is of special importance to
teachers for it enables them to extend their certificates, raise the
grade of their certificates, and to pursue their studies toward grad-
uation.
All courses offered count towards the college degree.
Credits from other standard colleges may be transferred to us,
and our credits are accepted elsewhere.
THE CITY OF ABILENE
McMurry College, beautifully situated on an eminence two
miles south of the city, derives many advantages through contacts
formed with the faculties and students of Simmons University and
Abilene Christian College, the two other institutions of higher learn-
ing located here. Abilene, with an elevation of 2,000 feet above the
sea level, boasts of a delightful climate. With a populatoin of more
than 25,000 people this city has much to offer beyond the walls of
her colleges. Beautiful churches, theatres, and hotels are the centers
of religious, artistic, and social life of the community.--
