Sesame Club Closes Year With Luncheon Janet Owens Is
Shower Honoree
Howe Sesame Club closed the
1966-67 club year Tuesday with
a luncheon at Holiday Inn.
Officers for the new club year
were installed as follows: Mrs.
Geneva Marshall, President;
Mrs. Marshall Robertson, vice-
president; Mrs. C. C. Jones,
secretary treasurer; Mrs. Mary
Hughett, corresponding secre-
tary; Miss Mame Roberts, par-
liamentarian.
The luncheon invocation was
given by Mrs. W. W. Collins.
Mrs. George F. Stockton gave
“A Famous Meditation.”'
Two major projects of the
club year included the presen-
tation of a painting by Mrs. Al-
ma Thompson, local artist, to
the Howe State Bank, and the
contribution to the Mason lodge
the release of the noted North
Rose Garden for a building site
for a new lodge building. The
club also sponsors the planting
of trees in the area.
Members presented a gift to
outgoing president, Miss Marne
Roberts.

Miss Janet Owens, bride-elect
of Larry Craver, was honored
with a shower Friday night in
the home of Mr. and Mrs.. E. E.
Clark. Hostesses were the Ruth
Class and the Beginner Depart-
ment of First Baptist church.
The refreshment table was
laid in a lace cloth and center-
ed with a miniature bride and
bridegroom, and an arrange-
ment of turquoise and white car
nations, the bride’s chosen col-
or. Arrangements of turquoise
rases were scattered through-
out the home. For the enter-
tainment, Miss Betty Catching,
Miss Gayle Gunn and Sharon
Belden modeled bride’s clothing.
They also presided at the re-
freshment table. Miss Owens is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Leo D. Owens and Mr. Craver
is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.
W Craver.
The wedding is planned for
June 22 in the home of the
bride.
Dorchester G. A.’s
The Dorchester GA’s met Fri-
day, April 28 at 5 p.m. Presi-
dent Audie Shelton called the
meeting v to order. Plans for a
skating party were discussed.
Meeting time was changed from
5 p.m. to 4:15 Fridays.
A skit, “Attending Preach-
ing,” was presented by Audie
Shelton, Gail Taylor and Donna
Word. The program c-hairman,
Ginger Lankford, and counselor
Jeanette Scott, led the girls in
discussing “How Important Is
the Preaching Service” and
what it meant to the girls.
Money raising activities for
GA Camp were also discussed.
