SHIFTLESS
Is the term generally applied to the
man who lets his fences fall into 111
repair while he whistles and whittles
his time away But theres many a
welldressed prosperous man who is
equally shiftless He feels his health
breaking down but does nothing to
repair it His stomach is weak His
heart and liver trouble him He neg-
lects his health until a total breakdown
comes
Men and women who by self neglect
become at last victims of nervous pros-
tration and general debility will find
certain help and an almost certain cure
in the use of Dr Pierces Golden Med-
ical Discovery The common cause of
debility is lack of nutrition because
the stomach is diseased and the food
eaten cannot be properly digested and
assimilated Dr Pierces Golden Med-
ical Discovery cures diseases of the
stomach and other organs of digestion
and nutrition and restores physical
health by enabling the perfect diges-
tion and assimilation of food
I am nn engineer by trade and the hard
work and worry of running a large engine
brought on nervous prostration writes Mr
Chas I Dixon of Arbucklc Colusa Co
Calif A friend recommended Dr Pierces
Golden Medical Discovery to me and I
bought one bottle thought it helped me bo
continued the use of it until I had taken six
bottles I feel better than ever in my life
Am not a particle nervous can work hard all
day and sleep sound at night I not only
think so hut I know that the Golden Med-
ical Discovery cured me and therefore I will
recommend it to others

The long excludptl heathen Chi-
nese proposes to boycott United
States products and a wail of in
dignatiun goes up from the Pacific
coast They dont peem to appre-
ciate out there thnt they cant ex
elude the Chinaman and enjoy his
trade nt the same time
OhI the pitty of it It certainly
soems that if tho men who go on
strike would stop and consider the
cost they would be less prone to
declare a strike on tho slightopt
provocation Take for instance tho
Chicago strike Nineteen garment
cutters were unable to secure what
they regarded as adequato wages
and they went on a strike Then
the toamstorB actuated by sym
paty for their own wives and fam-
ilies demanded a different course
Did thoy think of the debts they
would be compelled to incur and
of tho terrible struggle to get paid
up which must certainly follow
their own prolonged idleness Did
they reflect that there wouid prob-
ably bo as there have been up-
ward of 500 mon slugged before
tho striko was concluded Did
thejrealize that the strike would
cost as it hnB 7000000 for the
labor that has been wasted and
which can never be regained Do
they consider the fact that the
nineteen garment cutters are buck
at work while they the teams
sters and their families are suffer-
ing want and being driven some
no doubt from cruelty but many
perhaps by want to acts of bru-
tality their follow men scabs
perhaps but nevertheless menand
men who aie no doubt driven by
lack of other occupation to take
theyorkoftho teamsters former
employers Never was the advice
Look before you leap so perti-
nent ae on the eve of a great strike
