About a year ago a large

brown - head dog suddenly
greeted us as we arrived home

as mysteriously as she had
come to us. A few nights ago

the dog was the one we lost.
Eventhough we heard voices
in the night we're still looking
for what we've lost. That's
not just a description of our
family it's symptomatic of
our entire world as we move
into 1975. Eventhough we
hear many voices in the night
we're still missing something
that last piece of the nuzzle
which would make sense out
of our lives.
We've lost confidence in our
government. We've lost confi-
dence in our ability to survive
all the storms that seem to be
coming our way. We've even
lost confidence in our frui
tions of religion and good-will
as noted by declining national
church attendance and charita-
ble contributions.
If you listen carefully to the
voices of the night you will
still hear a "small voice" a
voice which comes in the rou
tine speecn spoken in the field
or on Main Street. When
friends speak to us He is there
as a hidden guest. When fami-
