Building Program
Board of Trustees of the
Bartlett Independent School
District have issued the follow-
ing statement concerning the
building program in the Bart-
lett School District following
a called meeting of the board of
trustees on Feb. 28th with a
("citizens group."
The Bartlett ISD board of
trustees met with a "citizens
group" who requested this joint
.meeting to discuss proposed
building plans for this district
and the following conclusions
were made by this board:

Band Concert
Slated Tonight
Bartlett High School Band
under the direction of Joe L.
Butler will present its first
concert of the year tonight
(Thursday) March 14th at 8
p.m. in the Bartlett High Sch-
ool Gymnasium.
Advance tickets are available
from any band member for
$1.00 each for adults and stu-
dents. (All proceeds of the con-
cert will be used to help defray
the expenses of the band pro-
gram. Bartlett Plans
Second Annual
Pee-Wee Tourney
Bartett will host its second
Pec-Weo Tournament March
28 29 and 30 in the Bartlett
high school gym.
Schools participating in the
tournament will be Zion (Wal-
burg) Jarroll Hutto Rogers
Holland Florence and Bart-
lett. There will be both girls and
boys teams from each school.
Admission for the tourna-
ment will be $1.00 for adults
and 50 cents for students for
each session.
The tournament is for girls
and boys that are in the 4th
5th and Gth grades and are
not over 12 years of age.
There will be six sessions.
Games will begin at 12 noon
Thursday 1 p. m. Friday and
1 p. m. Saturday.
Trophies will be awarded
for 1st 2nd 3rd and Consola-
tion in both boys and girls di-

one with an open mind.

Society at Bartlett High School
Friday during Public Schools
Week.

Banquet Held At
BHS Gym Tuesday
"Thoughts on the Making-
of a Successful Athlete" was
the subject of remarks by
Coach Les Fischer of South-
west TtVcas State University
at the All-Sports Banquet
held in the gymnasium of
Bartlett High School Tuesday
night.
Points he listed were that a
successful athlete is the pro-
duct of good coaching by a
coach who puts himself into
tho job and loves the. boys;
natural ability is important
he said but it takes hard
work dedication and deter-
mination along with disci-
pline of mind and body. Ho
also said that a good athlete
must have a goal a will to
win and a desire to excell.
Fischer recalled visiting
Bartlett and recruiting Jessie
Davis to attend Southwest
Toxas next fall on a football
scholarship.
The annual banquet was
sponsored by the Bartlett Ath-
letic Booster Club. It's presi-
dent Gayle Jones served as
ai aster of ceremonies. The
club was assisted in its pre-
parations by the high school
cheerleaders and the high
school student council.
Recognition was given the
cheerleaders and their sponsor
by Coach Jerry Smalley.
Coach Robert Campbell
thanked everyone who had
contributed in any way to the
chool's athletic program and
he introduced members of the
lootball team. Awards were
presented to those who had
lettered and had not already
received awards. Ho did the
same with tho boys' basket-
ball team.
Coach James Crews intro-
duced members of the girls'
basketball team and present-

sented Jessie Davis as the
school's most athletic boy.

Recognition was given those
receiving all-district honors
during the year.
Entertainment was provid-
ed by Erma Mathis Martha
Toncs Marilyn Foster Janice
Binder and Eula Gibson. The
invocation was brought by
Rev. Melton Miles and the
benediction by Rev. Wesley
Howard. The program closed
with the singing of the school
song led by the cheerleaders.
Thome of the decorations
for the banquet was the Char-
lie Brown comic strip. Draw-
ings of the characters covered
tlfe gymnasium walls along
with sayings adapted to the
'ocal school. Table decorations
were Snoopy's doghouses with
him on top School colors of
blue and white were also
used.
