The people of Bell' County in
vested $1690520.75 jn U. S.
Savings Bonds during 1949. ac
cording to tho annual sales re-
port received from' Nathan
Adams of Dallas state chairman.
This compares with sales of
91581184.00 for 1948.
Of the 1949 total Series E
the so-called "people's bond"
accounted for $1851343.75 as
compared with $1267714.50' E
bond sales in 1948. Series F and
G sales were $339177.00 as com-
pared with $313469.50 in 1948.
Total sales for the entire stato
were $191499089 as compared
with $196448280 in 1948 Mr.
Adams' report said. This is a
decline of 2.5 per cent. However
Mr. Adams declared that sales
last year were highly satisfact-
ury in viuw ui ucuuunnu irt'iiua
and because of a 3.9 per cent in-
crease in tho sale of E bonds
frcm $189591216 in 1948 to
$145114738 in 1949. Series F
and G bods accounted for $46
384351 of the state's sales total
last year.
Mr. Adam3 said that the peo-
ple of Texas hold more than $1.5
billion in Savings Bonds a- sub-
stantial share of which "are own-
ed by citizens of this county.

Lutheran Church held its first
meeting of the year on Thurs-
day evening with 21 members
and 3 visitors present. Hugo
Wolf read the scripture and led
m pfayer. Egon Lmdcinann pre-
sented the educational topic
"Eternal Life."
In the business session com-
mittees for the year were ap-
pointed and delegates to the Tex-
as District Brotherhood Con-
vention at McGregor Feb. 23
were elected. Refreshments and
games of "84" were enjoyed by
all.
