Holland Hornets Battle In Playoff
HORNETS
Trib u n e-Progress
With two regulars missing
the game the Holland Hor-
nets came up on the short
side of a 63-57 score in the
first game of a district play-
off against Mllnno last Satur-
day in Milano.
Earlier last week Holland
fell to the Milano Eagles 64-53
in the last regular season
game. That loss gave Milano
the second half title in Dis-
trict 55A forcing a playoff.
It's a best two of three
series with the second play-
off game scheduled for Tues-
day February 23 in Holland
The Hornets had to win that
one to stay in tho battle.
The third game if re-
quired was set for Friday
February 26 in Taylor at
730 p.m.
Ricky Bcnnlght and Roy
Johnson both missed the
playoff game last Saturday
evening which definitely put
a crimp on the Hornets
although Dan Kallus took up
some of the slack by playing
his best game of the year.
Kallus hit on 8 of 12 shots
attempted from the field for a
67 percent average netting
16 points
Kevin Benncr also scored
16 points while Jon Marc
Goodnight was good for 15
points
Others scoring were
James Hart 6 Greg Volney 2
and DArrcn Stroud 2.
Four players scored In
double-digits in the earlier
game with Milano. They
were: Kevin Benncr 14
points Roy Johnson 12
points Dan Kallus 11 points
and Jon Marc Goodnight 10
points.
Also scoring were Ben-
night 4 and Stroud 2
Coach Jack Parker was
hoping to have his squad
back to full strength for the
second playoff game Tues
day.
In the final Junior varsity
game of the season Holland
defeated Milano 23-16 last
week.
Albert Rodriguez and
Brandon Spinn each scored 6
points to pace the win.
The Hornets were behind
much of the game but drop-
ped in 10 points the final
quarter while shutting out the
Eagles in that last period.
Also scoring for Holland
were Kennethsmlth 4 James
Hart 3 Lupe rodriguez 2 and
Gary Warren 2
The junior varsity finished
with o 13-7 season record.

Milano 45-37 In overtime in
their final game of the cur
week.
The girls finished the
season with a 12-14 season
record and a 3-5 district
record

Rogers Academy Holland
Milano and Mumford will
participate.
The boys championship
game is set for 7:30 PM
Saturday.
The girls will play for the
championship trophy at 6:30
PM Saturday.
Holland is also entered in a
Little Dribblers Tournmanct
at Academy next week
March 4-6.
Rogers Academy Troy
Buckholts Academy and
Holland will play in that
tourney.
