The team will be built around two seniors who went to State

Senior Sally Johnson Leads Hornette Scoring
Senior Sally Johnson
dominated the stats during
the Holland Hornettes' 1978-
79 basketball season scoring
a total of 336 points to give
her a 15.G points-pcr-gamc
average.
Sally successfully topped
the charts in just about
everything except free
throws where junior Lou
Mcwhinney led with
61. Mcwhinney has been
one of Holland's top defen-
sive players taking 65 steals
just behind Johnson's 73.
Senior Tempie Kallus was
second in total scoring with
289 points.
The Hornettes rolled up a
very successful season
winning 22 games and losing
only 6. Three of those losses
were In district play where
the competition was plenty
stiff. Holland came very
close to beating district
champion Salado both times
they played them in district
ploy and did beat them In
non-district action.
Coach Danny McCray's
varsity squad was honored
this year by being named the
Texas High School Girls'
Coaches Association Team of
the Month in Class B for
February.
