To Post Hastees. We wonld ngam and
most earnestly call the attention of Postmas-
ters to the great trouble Jr-py put in to when
in returning a psper to- cas uncalled for or to
be changed thcyjiegleCrto furnish us with the
name of the post-office where the paper has
been addressed.
Oar books are indexed by the names of post-
offices and not by the names of subscribers;
and in order to find a subscriber's name re-
turned to ns by a Postmaster wc must cither
know that or his FastoHice r spend much
valuable time in looking through-thousands of
names; then after all perhaps to make an er-
ror especially where as i ollen the case a
similarity of names exists.

To our Patrons
While the majority of our Traveling and
other Agents are methodical and correct in
their transactions on our account and prompt
in their returns some few of them have not
been deserving of that praise. We have been
beavy losers in somcinstances.in Consequence;
and are subject also to the far greater annoy-
1ance of many or our accounts with subscribers
'and advertisers out of Galveston being
thrown into confuBion bills being sent out that
had been already paid to agents who neglected
to inform us of the fact and other uubasiness
like errors occurring that naturally and justly
caused offence to some of our oldest and best
patrons. Of course we have promptly reme-
died these vexatious errors and mistakes
whenever they came to our notice. Onrpa
trona cannot be more annoyed tban wc are at
'Such irregularities nor more anxious to bare
them corrected. Wc shall soon send out cir
culars to all ourpatrons with a transcript from
our books of their accounts accompanied by
the request that tbev will send us an answer
whether these arc correct or not or whether
payments net credited have been made and if
bo to whom. By this means wc hope soon to
have til errors complained of corrected
whether made by our cgents or by oversight
in onr office. Hereafter wo trust to avoid the
repetition as far as lies in our power as we
have now secured the services of one of-the
best and most experienced newspaper book
keepers to be found in the country.

town of Wbarloo on the night of the SOA Kovem-

seemingly back to the stirring times of his youth

busy scenes of other days. Such remarks as ibe fol-

from memory only :
