that separated the water on both tides which we pre-

dent depth of water for a 1 ght draft steamer to come
entirely through on good tides and CapU Moore will
probably bring the steamer Mij. Harris through to Gal-

en their own resources. Nature has done much for the
countylthough It has been considerably overlooked for
sometime and till within tbe last year or two no steps
bare been taken to bring about a regular communication
with Its natural outlet In Matagoidi Bay. Tho growing
demands of the county owing toils increased products
bare at length awakened the citizens of Texan to a
sense of their true poMtton and capaciy for making their
town an Important shipping point for n large and fertile
section of country which Is settling cp rapidly with an
enterprising community. Arrangements are now nearly
completed lo start a steamer on the rou'e between Tex-
ana and Powder Horn n distance of forty miles to run
two or three times a week and connect with the Sew
Orleans Steamers. The Boat intended for this trade
will draw about three feet ef water; and with a small
outlay In Improving the river will run about ten miles
auhour making tbe trip In about Eve hours. Ttercenery
