SffectEiiil Remedy for Worms.
The lessons of experience arc the most reliable
and if not too costly are sought after by the prac-
tical. The following is the voluntary testimony of
a .worthy and well known physician relative to his
experience of the efficacy of B. A. Fahnestock's
celebrated Vermifuge during a practice of twenty-
five years
GitK.VADA Miss. May 23d 1853.
Messrs. B. A.' Fahnestock J" Co:
Gentlemen : I am one of those individuals
backward in giving certificates but in the present
instance consider it due to humanity to say that I
have been engaged in the practice of Medicine for
..twenty-five years and have never met with any
remedy so effectual for worms as your Vermifuge.
In adults ever in cases of Fever I sometimes use
it to carry off calomel taken the previous night
and often find bilious evacuations and worms to
follow. I use no other Vermifuge in my practice
and desire no better.

THE HOKSE THE HORSE
Kofolcst of 5omestic Amisials
AND the most frequently ill-treated neglected
and abused. "We have just published a book
so valuable to tveiy man vho owns a Horse that
no one should villingly be without it. It is entitled
THE MODERN HORSE DOCTOR
And is from tic pen of that celebrated English
Veterinary Surgeon Dr. GEO. II. DADD well
known for many years in this Country as one of
the most successful scientific and popular writers
and lccturersin this branch of medical and surgi-
cal science. The book which we now offer to the
public is the result of many year's study and prac-
ticed experience which few have had.
From the numerous and strong commendations
of distinguished men and the newspaper press we
select the following :
Extracts from a letter from Ron. JohnJL Clifford
Ex-Governor of Mass.
New BEDyor.D May 11 1851.
Dr. Dadd Dear Sir: I hope your new work
on the noblest creature that man has ever been
permitted to hold in subjection (the Horse) will
meet with that success which all your efforts in
this direction so well deserve.
Your obedient servant
John H. Clikeokd.
From Eon. Marshall P Wilder.
-'- - Boston May 13 1854.
Dr. Dado My Dear Sin I am greatly obliged
to you for the valuable treatise the results of your
own investigations which you have recently is-
sued hoping that it may meet with the patronage
of a discriminatingcdmmunity.
I remain yours with great regard
Marshall P. Wilder.
The Modem Horse Doctor by Dr. G. H. Dadd
is a manual of genuine science and ought to be
owned and studied on the score of humanity as
well as interest by every man who owns a horse.
Boston Congregation a fist.
Dr. Dadd has had great experience in the cure
of sick horses and explains the secret of his suc-
cess in this vol. N. Y. Tribune.
The author of this work is well known as a most
skillful veterinary surgeon. His book is based on
the soundest common sense and as a hand-houk
for practical use we know of nothing to compare
with it. Yankee Blade.
We know Dr. Dadd well and are satisfied that he
possesses most important qualifications for prepar-
ing such a book as this. New England Farmer.
Messrs. Jevvett & Co. have just published a very
valuable work by Dr. Dadd a well known veteri-
nary surgeon on the causes nature and treatment
of disease and lameness in horses. Farmer's
Cabinet.
This is one of the most valuable treatises on the
subject ever published ; and no owner of that no-
blest of the animal race the horse should be with-
out it. Especially should it be in the hands of
every hotel and livery-stable keeper. To many a
man would it be worth hundreds of dollars every
year. hid. Democrat Concord.
By far the most learned and copious work on
the horse and his diseases we have ever seen.
N. ". Evangelhl.
One of the greatest and most commendable qual-
ities of this work is it is practical and plain to
the comprehension of those farmers and others for
whom it is mainly designed. The course of treat-
ment favors generally a more sanative and rational
system of medication than that recommended in
any previously existing works on farriery. No
farmer or owner of a horse should be without this
book. Stable keepers stage proprietors and hack-
men we believe would derive profit by having at
least one eopy hung up in their stables for use and
reference by their stable men Daily News Phil-
adelphia. There is more common sense in this book than
any of the kind we have ever seen and farmers
and owners of horses would find it a matter of
economy to possess themselves of it. It will be of
more service than the counsel of a score of ordi-
nary doctors. Albany Courier.
We deem this decidedly the best and most reli-
able work on the " Cause Nature and Treatment
of Disease and Lameness in Horses" ever publish-
ed. Xa.il ticket Inquirer.
What we have read of this book induces us to
regard it as a very sensible and valuable work ;
and we learn that those much more competent to
judge of its value have given it their unqualified
approval. Ev. Traveller Boston.
This book supplies a great desideratum which
Skinner's admirable treatise on the Horse did not
fill. Ever' man may be his own veterinary sur
geon and with much greater safety to this noble
animal than by trusting him to the treatment of
the empirical itinerants who infest the country.
It is well illustrated and should be purchased by
ever' man who owns a horse. Eo. Mirror N. Y.
This is a book that should he forth with put into
the hands of all who own or drive horses whether
for the dray or gig for the plow omnibus or road
for hard service orpleasurc. McMakiiCs Courier
Philadelphia.
A good clearly vriltcn book which should be in
the hands of ever man who has a horse whose
ills his affections or his purse make it worth while
to cure. Bangor Mercury.
This is a scientific thorough and complete trea-
tise upon the diseases to which one of the noblest
of animals is subject and the remedies which they
severally require. Troy Daily Budget.
It is a valuable book to those who have the care
of Horses. Hartford Herald.
He is not worthy to have a horse in his care
who wiil not use such a work to qualify himself for
his duties to this animal. Commonwealth Boston.

Thomas J. Coffee vs. John L. Harris.
Tlie Slate Texas
To the Sheriff of said Gotrtfy of Brazuria
Grcctinq :
TiniEREAS Thomas J. Coireo a citizen of aid
it oountv has fiiedhis petition iu this Couri in
which he alleges that previous to tlie ISt'n day of j
March 1S50 he was indebted on a judgment ren-
dered in the Circuit Court for the county of Ran-
kin in the State of Mississippi on or about the
5 th of November 1S17 in about the sum of Fif-
teen Thousand Dollars besides interest and costs
to the Farmers Bank of Virginia; and also was
embarrassed with debts and anxious to arrange for
the payment thereof. That on or about the 7th
June 1S12 a judgment had been rendered in fa-
vor of the said Harris against petitioner in the
Circuit Court of the United States for the South- I
ern District of Mississippi for about seven thou-
sand two hundred and fifty-nine dollars and ai-100
cents besides interest and costs. That by the
negligence of said defendant i.i not enforcing ex-
ecution upon said judgment 'lie was barred ever
enforcing execution thereupon by the Sth Section
of an Act of the Legislature of the State of Missis-
ippi entitled "An Act to amend the several
Acts of Limitations" approved Feb'y 1th 1811
and the said defendant was then without remedy a-
gaiust petitioner for the recovery of said judgment
debt. But the petitioner being anxious to arrange
the first named debt due on the first mentioned
judgment and knowing that the defendant had
ample means applied to and requested him to ne-
gotiate an arrangement and p lyment of said first
named debt and agreed with the dofendant that
if he woul.d do so with and at the sum often thou-
sand dollars your petitioner would re-payjiim the
amount paid with interest thereon and such por-
tion of the debt unpaid on the said judgment in
favor of defendant as might be agreed upon; to
which the defendant agreed and engaged for the
petitioner to pay said Bank debt on said terms
all which took place in the State of Mississippi
where petitioner then was on business his resi-
dence then as now being in Texas; and in con-
sequence of said promise and agreement of said
defendant the petitioner agreed that on his return
to Texas he would by conveyance in Mortgage
secure payment of the money so to be paid by the
defendant for petitioner together with the amount
of the judgment in favor of said defendant and
that petitioner would faithfully execute his part of
the agreement. That afterwards on the ISth
March 1S50 in Texas petitioner executed a deed
in fee purporting to convey all the right title in-
terest claim and demand which he had in the real
and personal estate menti ned in said deed to .- iid j
John L. Harris the 1 resident ol the sam manners
Bank of Virginia and to a certain Robert Joseliu
in mortgage to secure t le amount to be paid on
said judgment in favor of said defendant the a-
mount of the judgment due said Bank and a debt
to be collected by said Joselin described in said
deed; and the same was duly witnessed proved
and recorded in the County Clerk's ollice of Bra-
zoria county at the instance of the petitioner; but
said deed was not then and never has been deliv-
ered to said defendant nor to said Frc-ideat of
said Bank nor to said Joselin or any person for
him them or either of them by petitioner or any
one for him or in his behalf. Said deed marked
A is referred to as pait of the petition ; and after
the said deed was so recorded it was deposited
with the Counsel of petitioner to be delivered
used and enforced only in performance of said a-
greement. The petitioner alleges that at the date of said j
deed ever since and uowhe had and has no title
legal or equitable in or to the property mention-
ed in said deed ; that the title therein then being
in Rob itt Hughes and Samuel Yerger in distinct
parcels as to each for the wife and children of the
petitioner ; th.it he was managing the same with
the consent of said Hughes and Verger without
authority to convey ; but supposed and believed
and still does believe that said deed and mortgage
would have been assented to if said defendant had
performed his said agreement and petitioner ex-
pected and believed the defendant would have
performed his said agreement; but instead of
doing so the defendant when applied to admitted
the obligation upon hiin by the said agreement
but refused to perform the same and refused to
pay said Bank debt ; and lie never did perform
the same or pay said debt or any part ; and the
petitioner was compelled to pay said Bank debt
principal and interest amounting to near Twenty-
five thousand dollars.
That since the said agreement and since the
signing and sealing of the said deed as aforesaid
petitioner has been informed and believes and so
charges that a certain Samuel M. Puekelt who
owed the debt on which said defendant procured
said judgment against petitioner who was sued by
virtue of said judgment as security and endorser
only has paid and was compeiLd to pay before
the making of said agreement the full amount of
said debt" and interest to said Harris; and peti-
tioner besides paid more ih.ui two thousand dol-
lars of said debt to said Harris and the debt to be
paid to the said Joselin has been p;iid in full.
The petitioner alleges that the said John L. Har-
ris with a view to wrong and defraud hi:n though
the said de-id in mortgage was never delivered as
aforesaid; and. though the terms on which it was
to be executed and enforced have not been per-
formed but wholly violated no.w insists tlutt peti-
tioner is chargeable by virtue of &aid deed in
mortgage and threatens to enforce the same and
holds the same :is a cloud over the petitioner.
To the end that the said deed iu mortgage may
be cancelled and annulled and that the said John
L. Harris be enjoined setting up said deed or any
portion of it; and that petitioner may have relief
in the premises he prays citation in due form of
law to the said John L. Harris ; and the said
Thomas J. Coiiee having made oath in due form
before B. C. Jones Clerk of the District Court of
the County of Brazoria that John. L. Harris the
defendant is not a resident of the State of Texas.
You are therefore hereby commanded to cite i
John L. Harris by making publication of this ci-
tation in the newspaper called the Tex:is Planter

raiili'IOATLOX OF THE BLOOD" '
AND
LIVER AND BILIOUS COMPLAINTS.
The citizens of the Union suffer much from dis-
orders of the Liver and Stomach. scarcely any are
free from the imluenee of these destructive mala-
dies hence life wears fast. The fair sex perhaps
the most handsome In the World up to a certain
period when distressing to say many loose their
teeth and good looks while yet in tife heyday of
life such sad evils may be effectually remedied by
continually keeping the blood pure aud the Liver
and Stomach iu a healthy action when life wilL
flow smoothly and resemble pLints in a congenial
clime where an eternal spring appears to reign.
As it regards the preservation of the human frame
an'.l the duration of life much may be elfected and
I say fearlessly that health and life can be pro-
longed for many years beyond their ordinary limits
if Holloway's Pills are taken to purify the blood
according to the rules laid down for health contai-
ned in the'dircetions which accompany each box. "

YEARS STAMMXl.- ClIREO IJV IIOLLOWAY's PILLS.
Copy of a Letter from Captain John. Johnson As-:
tor House New York dated Jan'y 5th 1S51.
To Professor Hollowav
3d Corner of Aim and Xassau-sts. In" Y.
Sir It is with the most heartfelt pleasure I have
to inform you that I have bc:ii restored to health
and strength by taking your Pills. For the last-
ten years. I sulfered from a derangement of the
Liver and Stomach and was reduced to such an
extremity that I gave up my Ship never expect-
iug to go to Sea any more as I had tried every
Remedy that was recommended to me- but all to
no purpose ; and had given myself up to despair
when I was at last recommended to take your rills'.
After using them for three months the result Is
that I am now in better health than I have been
for eleven years past and indeed as well as ever I
was in my life. You are quite at liberty to make
this known for the benefit of others.
I remain Sir yours respectfully
