loon called for a drink and while Mc-

with several bullets in the right temple
and side of the face McGehau had

The deceased is supposed to have been
William Holland traveling agent for
whisky dealers. Foul play is 'suspected

prove thut a dog is not only possessed of

been a clear process of reasoning accom-
panied) by acuto feeling going on in the
dog's mind from the moment ho bit mo
until he hit upon a plan of showiug his
regret and making reparation for his
fault.. It evidently occurredto him that
I attached great importance to his foot-
bath and if ho could convince me that
hisi contrition was sincere and that he
was willing to submit to tho process with
out a murninr; 1 should be satisfied. J.Jic
dog in this case reasoned withperfect;.ac-
curacy and from his own premises deduc-
ed a legitimate conclusion which the re-
