work was done during the win-
ter and the gin was ready for

was made just before the pres-
ent cotton season began.

Temple To Be Host:
To Regional Farmer-
Industrial Conference
The Central and North Texas
regional Farmer-Industrial Con
ference will be held in Temple
August 31. This meeting is one
of three being held in Texas un-
der the auspices of the Texas
State Manufacturers Associa-
tion. West Texas conference
was held in Lubbock in May
and South Texas meets at Har-
lingeri in November. The South
western Conference in co-operation
with the National Associa-
tion of Manufacturers was held
at A&M College.
High points of the meeting
will be an address by Herman
H. Ochs San Antonio former
president San Antonio Chamber
of Commerce who will discuss
the Texas tax situation from
the standpoint of farmers and
businessmen. Victor Schoffel-
mayer Agricultural Editor the
Dallas News will discuss agri-
culture and emphasiize farm
chemurgy. Mr. Schoffelmayer
has been on tour of northwest
ern sta'tes gathering informa-
tion and new ideas to present at
this meeting.
A free barbecue will be serv-
ed at the Texas Blackland Ex-
periment Station near Temple at
noon. This will be followed by
a round table discussion con
ducted by Kenneth M. Renner
head of the Department of
Dairy Manufacture of Texas
Technological College Lubbock.
Freight rates cost of farm ma
chinery marketing cattle wool
etc will be subjects discussed.
All farmers manufacturers
and interested business men of
Central Texas are invited to at-
tend this conference. There will
be no registration fee. The con-
ference is sponsored by the Tex-
as State Manufacturers Associa-
tion in co-operation with the
Temple Chamber of Commerce
Temple Rotary Temple Lions
Club and Temple Kiwanis Club.

ed the Ball Jar Contest held in
the Home Demonstration
Agent's office in the George-
town Post Office August 5th.
One hundred and five persons
exhibited 210 jars -of canned
fruit and non-acid vegetables
90 of these being home demon-
stration club women and 15 4-H
club mns.
Prize money will be used for
tne council Funds and thn 4-H
Club trip to the Dallas Fair En
campment.

Demonstration Club.
Third place winner Mrs. Al-

4-H Girls' club members exhib-
ited. Mrs. Martin's exhibit consist-
ed in 1 quart of peaches and 1
quart of string beans.

ed in 1 quarts pears and 1 quan
canned baby beets.
Mrs. Jacobson's exhibit con-
sisted in 1 quart peaches and 1
quart greens.
t Mrs. Whiteley's exhibit con-
sisted in 1 quart pearS" and one
quart canned carrots.
These winning jars may be
seen in the home demonstration
agent's office during- the month
or August.
Judges of the exhibit were
Mrs. Sam Henderson and Mrs.
John Cluck of Georgetown.
Mr. and Mrs. Clinton McAd-
ams and son of MteKinney are
visitors this week in the home
of Mrs. McAdam's parents Mr.
and Mrs. C. D. Bobbins.
