Funeral Services
For Mrs. D. R. Munn
Held Sunday Afternoon
Funeral services were held for
Mrs. D. R. Munn Sunday after
noon at 2 o clock at the family
residence with F L. Yeakley
Minister of the Church of Christ
officiating. Burial was in the
Bartlett cemetery.
Mrs. Munn died Saturday af-
ter an illness of three weeks.
She was born November 30 1872
in Pontitac County Mississippi.
She was married in Belton in
October 1897. For the past thir
ty-five years she has been a
member of the Church of Christ.
Surviving are her husband
D. R Munn; one daughter Mrs.
J. P. Hunter; one grandson; one
brother M. L. Osborn of Glade-
water. -
Out of town relatives and
friends who attended the funer-
al were Mrs. J. H. Dillinger
Temple; Mrs. Fred Smith Fred
Smith Jr. Mrs. Hubert Crawiord
and son of Bellville and Mrs. M.
L. Osborn of Gladewater.

For City Alderman
C. A. Talley resident of Bart-
lett for the past fifty-five years
announced Monday his candi-
dacy for City Alderman subject
to action of the voters in the
Gity -election April 7.
" Mr. Talley states that he is
entering the race at the request
of his friends and that he feels
he is familiar with the needs of
Bartlett citizens.
J. F. Hruska Seeks
.Commissioners Job
Jim Evetts has announced his
candidacy for the office of dis
trict attorney of Bell Lampasas
and Mills counties comprising
the 27th judicial district. Evetts
was born at Killeen and has
spent his life in Bell County. He
is the son of Jim Evetts who
befprJiis.death-in 1922 prac-
ticed law'in-?ell'- County for
many years.
Evetts has served Bell Count
as county attorney and two years
ago made itne race tor oismct
attorney of the 27th district. He
carried "Bell and Lampasas coun-
ties but lost the race in Mills
county and was defeated by a
margin of 8 votes
He received his legal training

Methodist university in Dallas
and since returning to Bell Coun-
!ty with the exception of his term
as county attorney has engag-
ed in the general practice oi the
law.
The following is the state-
ment of Mr. Evetts. to the vot-
ers: -
To the Voters of Bell Lam-
ipasas and Mills Counties :
In announcing my candidacy
for the office of District At-
torney of the 27th Judicial Dis-
trict I will not recite the details
of my personal history for the
reason that my recent race for
the office of district attorney
two years ago which I lost by
a margin of 8 votes has already
acquainted the voters with these
facts.
Having had much experience
with the office of district at-
torney while assisting as county
attorney in the grand jury and
the prosecution of felony

Celebrate Thirtieth
Wedding Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Zschiesche
were complimented last Friday
night by their relatives and
friends with a surprise party in
honor of their thirtieth wedding
anniversary. Dancing was enjoy-
ed by approximately a hundred
guests. Music was furnished by
the Driska Boys of Granger. All
wished Mr. and Mrs. Zschiesche
many more years of married life.
Refreshments were served at a
late hour.

Wiederspahn daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Will Wiederspahn to

urday afterrnoon at the home
of the bride's parents with
members of the immediate fam-
ilies and close friends attending.

ceremony.
The bride wore an attracctive
beige swagger suit with pink
lace blouse and beige accessories
Mrs. Ware was born and rear
ed in Bartlett and is a graduate
of the Bartlett High School.
The groom attended John Tar-
leton Agricultural College and
the University of Texas and is
a licensed pilot; having studied
at Love field in Dallas and Uni-
versity flying school in Austin.
The couple left after the cere
mony in a new car which they
received as a bridal gift from the

tonio. They will make their home
with Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Ware

ness man J. F. Hruska author-
izes The Tribune to place his an-
nouncement this week as a can-
didate for Commissioner Pre-
cinct No. 3.
It will be remembered that
Mr. Hruska made the race in
the last campaign and although obligation to no man and if elect
in
cases in the district court I fully
appreciate the serious responsi
bilities which the duties of this
high place impose.
I have no platform to offer
except my promise to be equally
as quick to protect the innocent
as I will be to prosecute the
guilty and to represent the state
at all times with promptness and
efficiency.
I assure you that I am under
Albert Volney of Granger an-
nounced Wednesday his candi-
dacy for the office of commis-
sioner for Precinct No. 3 Wil-
liamson County.
Mr. Volney is a farmer who
is well known in this communi-
ty having lived here and in
Granger all of his life.
Mr. Volney promises if elect-
ed to serve his constituency to
the best of his ability. He re-
quests that his many friends in
the precinct which he hopes to
serve support him in the com-
ing election.

colored ex-service men of this
community had filed applica
tions for their bonus Thursday
officials of the Louis B. Wells
Post stated. Due to the cold
weather of the past few days
however many have been un-
able to come in to have their ap-
plication blanks filled it was
pointed out.

tin Pastusek were at the city
hall three evenings last week
distributing and filling out ap
plications for ex-service men

The marriage of Miss Cora
Raeke daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Raeke to J. T. Knight'
Haynesville Ala. took place
Sunday afternoon at the home
of the bride's parents.

Cove brother of the bride read
the ceremony. The 'bride wore a
gray drss with matching acces-
sories. Her flowers were red rose
buds.
After a wedding trip to New
Orleans the couple will make
their home in Haynesville Ala-
bama. Mrs. Knight is a graduate of
Bartlett High School and of
Scott and White's training
school for nurrses in Temple and
before her marriage was assist-
ant supervisor in the clinical
department at that hospital.
Mr. Knight son of Mr. and
Mrs. Jasper K. Knight of Hay
nesville Ala. as associated with
his father in business. They
have a large apiary. Mr. Knight
attended the University of Ala
bama.

vice Station A. E. Warren Bell
County Tax Assessor and Col-
lector stated Wednesday. All
persons must till out their ap-
plications and present thorn in
person to Mr. Wiederspahn for
their license he stated.

be obtained from Henry Schmidt
Mr. Warren stated.
Ross Tarrant attorney of
Temple has announced his can-
didacy -for the position of coun-
ty judge of Bell County.
Mr. Tarrant's statement fol-
lows :
To the Voters of Bell County:
In making this my announce
ment for the office of county
judge I do so believing that my
-qualifications' Jbase& upon' mv
knowledge of political economy
and legal training qualifies me
for this office.
This is my first announcement
for any elective office and I do
not come'from a family of office
holders neither am I the heir of
any political lineage. I seek this
office upon my merits and I
shall make an effort to see as
many of the voters of the coun-
ty as possible.
For the benefit of those who
do r.'ot know me I was born in
Nolanville in this county the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin R.
Tarrant. My father is employed
by the Santa Fe railroad with
headquarters in Temple. I am
32 years of age married and
have lived in the county most of
my life. I attended the primary
schools in Temple and in 1930 I
received my law degree from
Baylor university school of law.
I worked in a law office in San
Antonio for two years and then
opened an office in Temple where
I am now actively engaged in the
practice of law.
When elected county judge I
shall devote my Entire Time to
the interest of the county and
the duties of county judge.
In presiding as judge of the
county court it will be my policy
to see that all parties interested
in any case pending before the
court will be treated in a fair
and impartial manner.
While sitting with the com
missioners' court I shall deem it
my duty and obligation to con
sider at all times the best inter
ests of the people of Bell coun
ty as a whole and will not be
prejudiced against nor in favor
of any section in the county.
In seeking this office I am do-
ing so without obligation to any
group or interest and I shall per-
form the duties of the office
without fear or favor. I shall be
open to suggestions and discus-
sions for the best interest of the
county and assure you of every
consideration and - courteous
treatment when I am elected
your county judge.

Joe Davis Heacock will be the
princcipal speaker at the P. T. A.
meeting Tuesday night Febru-
ary 18 at 7:15 o'clock at the
high school. Mr. Heacock is the
National Chairman of Allied
Youth of America an organiza-
tion for the purpose of liberat
ing youth from the evils of al-
cohol through education. In ad
dition he is field representative
in Texas Oklahoma Arkansas
and Louisiana with headquarters
at Ft. Worth.
Founders' Day will be observ-
ed at the meeting with "The
Child Four Square" presented by-
five children and three adults
directed by Mrs. C. E. Lamb. Bil-
ly Barton will play trombone sel
ections.
An interesting and worthwhile
feature of the program will be
the exhibit which is being pre-
pared by the high school classes.
This will be work which has been
completed in the classes during
the year. Every parent ana

G. A. Hempel has announced
as a candidate for Commission-
er Precinct No. 3 Williamson.
County. He was a candidate for
the office at the last election and
lost by only a few votes.
Mr. Hempel has had exper-
ience in road construction. Dur-
ing 1924 and 1925 he had charge
of the maintenance of state
highways in Williamson County.
He offers a business adminis-
tration of the office if elected
and promises to treat all parts of
the precinct with fairness and
impartiality.
Mr. Hempel requests that his
qualifications for commissioner
be carefully considered by voters
during the campaign.

Lynn Bartlett gave a report
of the quarterly meeting of the
Contral Texas Fire Convention
in Rosebud. Chief Bartlett ap-
pointed four committees com-
posed of four members each to
make an inspection of buildings
in Bartlett. This inspection is ex-
pected to increase the efficiency
of fire fighting in Bartlett.
