finish their lunch from Long
John Silver’s.
Riding in a stolen Chrysler
Sebring convertible as they ate
their fish and cole slaw, the
couple’s journey was inter-
rupted between Brownwood
and Bangs Tuesday afternoon
by a state trooper who was
searching for the stolen car.
Trooper Martin Molotsky
arrested Rodriguez, 23, and
Ordaz, 32, on charges of
unauthorized use of a mo-
tor vehicle, Brown County
Jail records state. Jail records
show both have Sweetwater
addresses, but Molotsky said
Rodriguez is out of Plainview.
Ordaz was also charged with
possession of a dangerous
drug.
Both remained in the Brown
County Jail Wednesday.
The 2001 Chrysler belongs
to Brownwood residents who
had traveled to Abilene on
Aug. 17 to shop, Molotsky
said. They spent the night at
a motel, and when they got
up the next morning, their
car was gone. Several other

An entry on Eis’ website, www.

How about a nice stay at your lo-
cal hospital having a heart valve

death experience because of drugs,
mainly methamphetamine and
prescription drugs, by not caring
about her own personal health,
resulting in two strokes, both legs

an Aortic Heart Valve replacement

Buffalo Wild Wings expected
to open in mid-November

A section of the east end of Commerce Square
has been transformed into a construction site as
work continues at the future home of a Buffalo Wild
Wings Bar and Grill. Renovation of the empty build-
ing that will house the restaurant is on schedule and
the restaurant could be open by mid-November.
That’s the assessment of Michael Burton of
Wingsport LP, an Abilene-based partnership that is
opening the restaurant and owns other Buffalo Wild
Wings restaurants in Abilene, San Angelo, Wichita
Falls and Lawton, Okla.
It is hoped the restaurant will open in Brownwood
on Nov. 11 or Nov. 18, but those dates aren’t con-
firmed, Burton said.
“Everything’s smooth. We’ve had good luck with
the local contractors,” Burton said.
Workers from different companies were at the
site Wednesday afternoon, and an Ingram Concrete

Open enrollment for Obamacare Oct. 1
BY RICK PHELPS
BROWNWOOD BULLETIN
rick.phelps@brownwoodbulletin.com
Open enrollment under the
Affordable Care Act (ACA), also
known as ObamaCare begins
Oct. 1. The six-month enrollment
period will end March 31, 2014.
Those who can afford health insur-
ance but do not have qualified
coverage in 2014 could be subject
to a fee and pay for all health care
expenses.
At the conclusion of open enroll-
ment, those without insurance
will not be eligible to purchase a
plan through the Marketplace until
the next annual open enrollment
period, unless a qualifying life
event has taken place. Examples of
qualifying life events are marriage,
drastic change in income, moving
out of state, changes in family size,
divorce and birth of a child. If a
qualifying life event has occurred,
those effected would be eligible for
a special-enrollment period.
Choosing against a health insur-
ance plan could see an individual
paying a fee of $95 per person
for the year or 1 percent of gross
yearly income, with the fee being
assessed on whichever amount is
higher. That fee is set to increase
yearly. In 2016, the fee will be $695
per person or 2.5 percent of gross
yearly income. A fee of $47.50 will
be assessed for each uninsured
child in the home, with $285 being
the max that can be charged in
2014.
Certain uninsured individuals
will be exempt from paying the fee.
Those excluded:
• Are uninsured for less than
three months of the year.
• Are determined to have very
low income and coverage is consid-
ered unaffordable.
• Are not required to file a tax
