era. However, the Tokyo reports are conflicting.
A Japanese broadcast today, heard by government monitors, I
said the reply was handed to the Swiss minister In Tokyo on
February 3rd—two days before the Japanese claim they received
vthe protest from this country. I
However, on English language broadcast from Tokyo and
beamed to the United Htates, asserted the reply was given tlie
Swiss minister May 3rd.
As a representative of n neutral power, the Swiss minister
may handle communications between the governments.
