Ralls Jackrabbits
Baseball Players receive
All-District Honors
Jonathan Van Gundy was selected to play in the Greater
West Texas Baseball Coaches Association All-Star game
to be played on June 2nd at 11:00 at Frenship High School
baseball field. He will participate in a pro day tryout on
June 1st held at the Shallowater baseball field. Over 70
players were nominated for the TAPPS/ 1A/2A GWTBCA
All-Star game. Congratulations to Jonathan on this very
deserving honor.
Michael Owen and Kaleb Reese were selected to be on
the All-District Baseball Team. Michael was Honorable
Mention infield and Kaleb was selected as a 2nd Team
outfielder.
Jonathan Van Gundy and Huntor Watson were both se-
lected to be on the All-District Baseball Team. Jonathan
was voted as 1st team catcher and Huntor was selected
as 1st team Utility Player.
Braxton Jones and Matthew Casias were voted to the
all-district baseball team. Braxton received Honorable
Mention infield and Matt was selected as a 2nd Team
Pitcher.
Ralls REC Graduation
Ralls REC Graduation was held on Tuesday, May 28th 2013 at the High School Auditorium. Many friends and family showed their
support towards the graduates and enjoyed a nice ceremony followed by nice refreshments. A special thanks goes to Amy Feaster,
Minnie Rivera, Amelia Luna, Pat Wise, and Frank Wise for their help in making this a special night for the graduates.
Bus’s Friends for Animal Wolfarn mot on May 9th
Gus’s Friends for Animal
Welfare met on Thursday,
May 9, 2013 with the follow-
ing members presents: Peggy
Wilson, Judy Sumpter, Lori
Sumpter, Glenda Pyle, Betty
Martin, Pam Taylor, Jim
McDuff, Shelly Kater, Elaine
Griffin, Sherry Cavett, Roland
Martin and Christy Forbes.
The meeting was called to
order at 7:00 p.m. The min-
utes from the May 2, 2013
were not available.
Peggy Wilson presented
the Financial Report.
All members agreed to
participate in the “Truckin’
Along 62” Garage Sale that
will be held on June 8, 2013.
Ag Texas Farm Credit Ser-
vices, located on the highway,
has agreed to allow Gus’s
Friends to hold the sale in their
parking lot. Donations for
items to sell will be accepted
as well as raffle items to be
awarded at Cotton Boll Festi-
val. Ticket sales for raffle
items will begin at the garage
sale. Judy Sumpter has do-
nated a wooden chess set that
she made and Sherry Cavett
will be donating a purse that
she has designed and sewn.
Betty Martin was selected to
Chair this event. Pam Taylor
will coordinate food and bev-
erages to be sold at the Ga-
rage Sale.
Rusty Forbes, Lorenzo
City Administrator invited
Gus’s Friends to enter a float
in the Annual 4th of July pa-
rade in Lorenzo. Christy
Forbes will gather more infor-
mation such as time, theme,
etc. and report as soon as it is
available.
A committee to coordinate
with the Ralls City Council in
reference to suggestions and/
or concerns regarding animal
control policies was selected.
Peggy Wilson, Betty Martin,
Pam Taylor and Judy Sumpter
will submit suggestions to
Mayor Jim McDuff prior to
the City’s upcoming council
meeting.

AYE, the Board of Directors
was seated. It was decided
that there will be 2 signatures
required for all checks writ-
ten, and they may consist of a
combination of the following
Board members: President
Peggy Wilson, Treasurer
Marilyn Wells and Director At
Large Pam Taylor.
President Wilson advised
that she had spoken with At-
torney Joe Heflin and Dr.
Kerry Wink. Both have gra-
ciously agreed to serve on our
board. Joe Heflin will begin
work to obtain a 501 (c)3 non-
profit status for Gus’s Friends.
It was decided that regu-
lar meetings for the Board of
Directors for Gus’s Friends
for Animal Welfare will be held
on the 3rd Thursday of each
month.
As of this date, Gus’s
Friends for Animal Welfare
has rescued 4 dogs and is cur-
rently working with several
rescue groups to held with 2
dogs being held at the city.
We have an urgent need
for foster homes and supplies.
There being no further
business, the meeting ad-
journed at 8:15 p.m.
