"I PICKED a Ford V-8 for the 1933 Stock Car Race
nt Elgin nutl I thought it -nt a grunt car when it
brought me home in front. It tnkes a lot of nutomo-
bile to average 80.22 miles an hour for 200 miles over
n course like that.
"When I henrri that the 1931 Ford V-8 was even
better than the 1933 job I wai jiut a little doubtful.
It just didn't seem poigible but I thought I'd find out.
"I could tee it wa better-looking but I wasn't much
interested in thnt. The thing n racing driver looks nt
is the engine. Mow does it sound? Mow is it built? '
Mow fast will it go? Mow does it stack-up on gns
nnd oil?
. "So I took It out on the rond nnd opened it up. It
hold the rond like n veternn nnd the wny thnt speed-
Qimiter touched the top numbers was something to
tnlk about. If I'd had thnt car in the Elgin race I'd
have averaged closer to 90 than 30.
"You can put me down as saying this New Ford
V-8 is going to go places in I'Ji-l. It's n sweet job all
the wny through and thnt new dual carburction system
i.s going to save ou .i lot of money on gasoline."
