TOGA FIGHTS II OHIO
Atlee Pomerene and Edward W Han
ley Are Leading Candidates j
For Senatorship
Herald Special
Columbus 6 Dec 22 The round-
ing up here today o the democratic
memberselect of the lower branch of
the legislature to discuss plans fori
organization and other matters pre-
liminary to the opening of the legisla-
tive session next month is expected
to help considerably in clearing the
atmosphere surrounding the United
States senatorship Though the meet-
ing of the house members is not in-
tended in any way to settle the sena-
torial contest the feeling prevails
among the politicians that the present
opportunity of getting together for
discnssion will result in something
more definite on which to base sena-
torial predictions than anything that
has existed heretofore
At the present time notwithstand-
ing the confident claims of the rival
campaign managers it appears to be
a tossup whether Atlee Pomerene
the lieutenant governorelect or Ed-
ward W Hanley the Dayton lawyer
is most likely to be the successor of
Charles Dick in the United Statessen
ate Some politicians are of the opin-
ion that neither will be chosen This
prediction is based on the belief that
the equal strength of the rival candi-
dates will result in a deadlock and
that as a consequence a darl horse
will he elected
Former Congressman John J Lentz
Colnel lames Kilbourno of this city
and Virgil P Cline of Cleveland are
among those whose names are heard
in connection
more or less frequently
with the senatorship But none of
these has so far graduated from the
also mentioned class and the prob
ability is that none will enter actively
intothe fight unless the contest be-
tween Pomerene and Hanley becomes
so tangled that a compromise candi-
date appears to offer the only solu
tionT
As between Pomerene and Hanley
the indications are that the winner if
either wins will be the one who con-
ducts the best campaign Neitherap
pears to have any advantage so far
as personal popularity is concerned
Hanley is supposed to have the back-
ing of most of the leaders of the state
organization while Pomerene has the
advantage of a wider acquaintance
throughout the state and also has
the prestige that comes from his re-
cent successful candidacy for the of-
fice of lieutenant governor
Rumors are still current that John
R McLean may enter the race for the
toga though the general opinion is
that he has about abandoned his aspi-
rations in that direction especially as
the reports of his emissaries sent here
recently to seek for McLean senti-
ment are understood to have been of
none too rosy alute

A PESTIFEROUS GERM
Burrows Up the Scalp Into Dandruff
and Saps the Hairs Vitality
People who complain of falling hair
as a rule do not know that it is the
result of dandruff which is caused by
a pestiferous parasite burrowing up
the scalp as it digs down to the
sheath in which the hair is fed in the
scalp Before long the hair root Is
disheveled up and the hair drops out
If the work of the germ is not de-
stroyed hair keeps thinning till bald-
ness comes The only way to cure
dandruff is to kill the germ and until
now there has been no hair prepara
tion that would do it but today dand-
ruff is easily eradicated by Newbros
Horpicide which makes hair glossy
and soft as silk
