FIVE PEOPLE INJURED
As Result of a Head End Collision
Between M K T Freight
Trains This Morning

Denton Texas Juno 19 Five per-
sons members of the crews were in-
jured in a head end collision between
two Missouri Kansas and Texas rail-
road freight trains this morning En-
gineer Walker Fireman Reynolds
Conductor Milton Brakeman Norton
and another brakeman name not
known were all painfully hurt Six
cars were splintered and the track
torn up A large number of sheep
and cattle in shipment were killed
in the wreck
INCOME TAX POSTPONED
Bailey Announced Today That By

tivities were held at Baylor Univer-
sity today preliminary to the sixty
fourth annual commencement To-
morrow morning the baccalaureate
sermon will be preached by the Rev
Carter Helm Jones of Oklahoma City
Monday and Tuesday will be occu-
pied with class exeicises and alumni
meetings and the graduating exercises
will be held Wednesday Hamilton
Holt of New York City will deliver
the commencement address

Houston Texas June 18 L Roy
Jones 11 years old son of L R Jones
of 4012 Milam street was drowned in
a pond in the extreme southeastern
part of the city yesterday evening
genialng were brought into
stbn late last night
morning the boy who was drowned
went to the pond with a playmate by
the name of Fred Milby The pond
was one which resulted fiom excava
tions made by E W Cave in search
for suitable soil from which to manu
facture brick The two boys got into
an old boat and when in the center
of the pool the canoe sank The Mil
by boy swam to shore but the Jones
boy not being able to swim drowned
The Milby boy was so badly fright-
ened that it was not until this morn-
ing that he could give a correct ac-
count of the accident A search for
several hours was made last night
before the body of the Jones boy
could be found Justice Vasmer held
the inquest and rendered a verdict of
accidental death caused by drowning

Pierce Succeeds Hale as Chaplain of
the U S Senate
Washington D C June 18 In
succession to the Rev Edward Ever-
ett Hale deceased Rev Ulysses
Pierce pastor of All Souls Unitarian
church of this city was today desig-
nated by the senate resolution to act
as chaplain until otheiwise ordered
Rev Mr Pierce is pastor of the
church which the president attends

has telegiaphed Attorney General Da-
vidson that he would leave Detroit
Mich for New Yoik tomorrow Mr
Lightfoot it is understood is going
to New Yoik to continue his investi-
gation into the matters pertaining to
tho seveial Standaul Oil cases which
the state of Texas has bi ought He
has been engaged on the suits for
several months and has made one or
two trips to New York seeking evi-
dence The causes will be hi ought
to tiial at Austin during the October
term of the district court of Travis
county
Carter Building to Be Twenty Stories

Carter building now under course of
construction at the corner of Main
street and Rusk avenue may be a
twentystory Instead of a sixteen
story structure leaked out today
through some of the contractors who
are preparing to submit bids for the
work It is htated as a fact that the
contiactois will submit bids for the
sixteenstory building which is defi-
nitely determined upon and for high
er buildings Excavation for the build
ing has been completed
