In discussing the great subject
of Baileyisui a strong Bailey man
said Ibe other day that ne did not
blame Bailey for not discussing the
question with any onp and 6aid
who would be willing to dUcuEi
the question whether or not he was

such a thing if he could not dis-
prove the charge that he thought
the refusal was an admission of the
correctness of the charge

this class not democrats becaus

Bailey is no more the nominee of
the democratic party than AttGen
Davidson The difference is that
Davidson is undoing what Bailey
has done that makes him distaste-
ful to Baileyand his trust associates
The primary vote for Senator

YOUE VOTE
The Jimplecute wishes to sny to
its friends and readers that begin
ning with its first isue the main
intention and purpose of its man
tgetnent has b en devoted to lh < >
bast inerest of the pe > pe It has
never deviated from this course
In plain English the Jimplecute
has been the staunch friend of the
poople in the hot campaign now
on this p > iper has sided with the
peoples interest and has without
fear or favor given the people as it
appeared to it the real issue as it
developed As frequently stated
the Jimplecute has insisted that
the rf al question was the fright or
Wrong in the action of Senator
Bailey in rendering service to the
Waters Pieice Oil Co when ho was
pretending to serve the people It
is apparant now that the effort on
the part of Bailey to go to the Den-
ver convention is only a blind
wherein he can fiijlt Atty Gen D
vidon because that official has
undone all the work he has done
for the Oil trust If this was not
so why is he fighting bo p rsi ° t
ently the Atty Gen a democratic
officer Is it revenge because the
Atty Gen let the cat out of fhe
bag and first gave to the ptople
the facts which put Senator Bailey
in his true light He is denounc-
ing those who oppose him as be-
ing anything but pure democrats
he is denouncing b democratic offi-
cer yet he is the real stufTthe si-
mon pure He belongs to that
class of men we have read about
who thank God they are tint as oth-
er men are the people thank God
that they are not as he is The
Jimplecute has no apology to make
for the part it has taken in thif
fight the question is of moraiiy
not one of personality It is rim
ply a question will a person in-
dorse Right or Wrong Can Texas
afford to indorse wha Senator Bai-
ley has confessed if you indorse
Senator Baitay in all his dealing
and point to htm as your high mod-
el then you stde track the great
heroes of the state seal up that
portion of the history of your state
and begin a new record presented
on entirely new principles Which
are you willing to do The com-
mon people cannot erect a monu
ment to the memory of their great
fripnd Hogg and Bailey too be
causethe inscriptions on the mon
uments would be exactly opposite
The Jimplecute suggests to the com
mon people let their vote on the
2nd May show that they prefer to
erect to the memory of Gov Hogg
the monument it deserves and let
the trusts take care of the monu-
ment for Bailev On the one the
common people will write Our
Friend and on the other the
trusts will write faithful unto
death Your vote will toll which
monument you wish to erect
THE LAST APPEAL
The follpwing sentiments are
presented to the voters for consid-
eration before the fatal rote is cast
Hon John H Reagan said any
man who went to congress and re-
mained a few years and came back
rich should be sent to the peniten-
tiary for it was prima facie evi-
dence of fraud no honest man can
do ifon 500 a year Senator
Bailey said I dispise any man
who remains in congress poor to
be labeled honest Which sen-
timent are you going to endorse by
your vote Think long and well
before you decide Principle is
more involved than party in the
vote to be cast the 2nd May 1908
Surely it will not be known as the
date when Texas surrendered to
bossisra and trusts
Upon what hypothesis can any-
one bay that because one votes ag-
ainst Senator Bailey as a delegate
to the national convention that he
is voting against the democratic
party Is Senator Bailey the
party the whole thing The
democratic party used to stand ft r
purity and the antiBailey p ople
and striving to restore it to first
principle no trading with preda
torj wealth

CRYING FOR HELP

The kidneys cry for help

A ALL DRUGGISTS 50c AND SlOO
South Texas recentlyand found the
same antipathy to what is popular-
ly termed Baileyism among the
yeomenry down that way I can
see nothing in the coming primary
but an overwhelmning defeat for
the Bailey cause notwithstanding
the popular belief in my home-
town Dallas News
The 2nd May will tell the tale
and how the people stand the peo
pie are reading now The day of
misleading them has passed Tbe
people dont take deception or mis
statement of facts the people have
the highest sense of honor Mr
Hampton is an important wit
ness in this instance It is an up
hill proposition to attempt the
defense ol Wrong vs Right right
needs no defense only explanation
It ha3 been suggested by some
that this section should not oppose
Senator Bailey bpcause he can do
us great harm in opposing the wa
ter question for which we have
been fighting eo long While the
Jimplecute wants the restoration
of navigation yet if this can only
be had by the sacrifice of an hon-
est conviction or support of what
we believe to be a grievous wrong
then the Jimplecute declines navi-
gation at such a prico We are
loth to believe that any man in
this entire section would have any-
thing atsuch a saerifice It would
be more expensive than the peo-
ples tribute to the Waters Pierce
Oil Co eleven millions in six
yearsno we beg to be excused
Again if Senator Bailey would op-
pose such an important proposi-
tion htciuse people differed with
him and would not sanction his
aelfadmitted dealings and forego
the highest prerogatives of a free
citizen that of independent thought
then he is neither a statesman or
patriot and is unwilling to accord
to others that which he demands
for hiniBelf If he would under-
take to seek vengeance on his op-
ponent making his supporters
to sulfer also then he is absolutely
unfit for the position he now holds
by reason of a misunderstanding of
the peoplo because the actual facts
were held back and the voteswere
cast in ignorance of the facts
When Gen Wheel r was fight-
ing the eouutrys battles in Cuba
Senator Bailey wanted to know
whether or not ho was drawing pay
as a general and as a rnngressman
also Gen Crane in discussing the
matter said had he drawn salary as
congressman and as general that
would make no difference because
he was doing it openly and from
the same government but said Gen
Crane had he been drawing pay
from tne Spaniards and fiom the U
S governmet he would then be
doing vhat Senator Bailey was do-
ing when ho dre money from the
Oil Interest and pay as U S Sen-
ator Evidently Gen Crane was
making another bellringing shot
In casting your vote on the 2nd
May dont forget that you are vot-
ing to establish a principle vital
to the country at large and espe
daily to the yoong men vho will
manage the affairs of government
in future A vote for Bailey is a
recognition of the right of an office-
holder to make a profit out of his
office Your vot against Bailey
records your condemnation of such
action and says to the world that
iou regard political honesty above
everything els ° There is no trial
of democracy in this for theie is
no nominee of the party to be voted

money we < ire entitled to the sup-

to save my life how a man whose
life is iven over to paeaching of
righteousness and honesty and in
tegrily can indorse Joe Bailey
No one else who will think serious-
ly over the question could under-
stand how those who condemn
wrong in everybody can uphold it
in Senator Bailey It is mistfying
to express it mildly
Col Wynne was introduced by
Hon H F ONeal who explained
why Senator Bailey had to cancel
his date here and said that he ac-
companied Bailey to Bryans room
after his nomination in Chicago
and heard Bailey offer his services
to Bryan asking him to send him
where the fight is fiercest and the
enemy is strongest His speech
was well received Dallas News
Was this before or after the eel
ebrated telgram Mr Bailey sent de
clining to run for congress again
Was it before or after the Odell
interview recently reproduced in
the DallaB News There seems to
he a conflict of testimouy Why
should Col Wynne wish to dis
pace a good democratic officer It
