The Battle of Carrizal was the United States' worse engagement with Mexican forces during the Punitive Expedition as Troop K (Capt. Morey's unit) and Troop C of the 10th Cavalry suffered heavy losses. 23 American soldiers were taken prisoner by Mexican forces and were sent to the Chihuahua City prison.
