Notes

Captain James Charles Bulger was originally from New York and joined Madero's forces in 1911. Quite a few foreigners joined the Mexican Revolution for a variety of reasons, though monetary rewards and adventure were perhaps the two most popular. The group seems to have posed for this impromptu photo in the middle of a lunch break as several cooking and dining utensils are seen on the ground. Though many are not identified, the tall man near the center of the photo, sporting a mustache and full beard is said to have been known as American Slim.
