Anonymous student opens up about hit-and-run
I think the driver was in a rush and he was driving way
too fast for a parking lot, and he thought since it was a
parking lot there was no need to stop or at least yield for
oncoming traffic, or in my case a bike/'

Many Tarleton State University
students have begun using bikes to
quickly and safely travel from one side
of the campus to the other, but for one
Tarleton student it was not such a safe
ride.
The student, who has chosen to
remain anonymous, found herself the
victim of a hit and mn on Sept. 18 near
the business building around 11:30
a.m. while riding her bike, which she’d
won at this year’s Rec Fest.
“I was riding my bike across
the parking lot, when I came to
an intersection where a truck was
supposed to stop. He didn’t stop nor
yield as he entered that intersection,
and therefore we ran right into each
other,” the student said.
The driver then got out and asked if
she was okay.
“As I looked down to examine my
injuries, I said ‘I guess so’ and he said
‘okay’ and got back in the truck and
left,” she claimed. “He was maybe out
of the tmck for ten seconds.”
She describes the driver being about
5’11, light brown hair, about 19 or 20
years old, with glasses. The vehicle
was a light silver-blue single cab tmck.
“I think the driver was in a msh
and he was driving way too fast for a
parking lot, and he thought since it was
a parking lot there was no need to stop
or at least yield for oncoming traffic, or
in my case a bike,” she said. “I do not
want to take the driver to court, I just
wish he would have assisted me back
to my dorm since I was bleeding, and
maybe offered to pay and get me a new
bike.”
After leaving the scene of the crime
the student went to the Health Center,
where they cleaned up her wounds.
They also gave her a report to fill out.
“My knee was bloody and scraped
open, my shoulder got scraped, and my
pinky finger got jammed and turned
black and blue and is now crooked.
Also my bike is completely mined.”
“I did go to the Campus Police and
filed a report,” she added, “but they
said there was nothing they could do
since both people left the scene of the
crime.”
Even after gaining a few bumps and
bmises, this Texan says she is still in
love with Tarleton, but she isn’t in love
with how the incident was handled or
how she was treated.
“This incident did not change my
mind. I still love Tarleton, but I do wish
something would have happened and
I could have gotten a new bike,” she
said. “After all, that was an amazing
way to get to class. I just wish he would
confess and find me and offer to pay for
a new bike for me. I mean, I got injured
but not badly enough that it couldn’t
heal quickly. I just want my bike fixed,
and possibly some new tennis shoes,
because those got messed up when I
hit the parking lot pavement.”
