sion and omission.. Weber seeing the mis-
erable support he was getting just lobbed
the ball over without any attempt to

niany . persona present who thought the
Colts were laying down on - Weber but
this the players deny and la probably
not a fact. . - '
-Nichols aad Corbett were opposed to
each other in the pitcher's bos at the
beginning of the game Corbett pitching

remainder of the game.
Jake Beokley baa strengthened the
Cardinala Immensely and they are put-
ting up' a much etronger game now than
before Beckiry'e arrival. Beckley la full
ef ginger snd -keeps ths other players
an the hustle throughout the gams. John-
nie Farrell played a great game at sec-
ond yeeterday and lined out the ball for
two doubles. Angus McDonald- played
with the Colts and at onoa won the ad-
miration of tha St. Louis men by his
easy graceful movements. Angus made
a clean bit and his field work waa per-
fect. Dan Shay played a grand game at
short. He Is aa jfulck as a cat and the
beat thrower that has ever played on a
Houston diamond. Shay Is a favorite of
ail tha patrons of the gams. .

several good ones in view
The chess tournaments are progressing
rather slowly especially the annual tour-
