one night in my mail box at the Alhambra Hotel, I found
a cordial note from Mrs. Street. It read:
"Do conme down to our rooml and tell us all about
everything. That night I left vyo inl the New Orleans
station, when you pulled your gun91s on those two men, I
ranl away into the crowd. I was so afraid you were
going to be shot. Charlie (my zhusband) and I are eager
to see you again. Coime dozwi this czvening if you have
no other engagement."
I was glad to have their company as I was alone

house.

Street said that the next night we would go out to the
people's house for dinner. W'e were not to meet her
and Mr. Street as thev had an engagement which would
take them right up close to the dinner hour. They gave
nme the address. It was the night before the morning of
the trial.
Mrs. Street called me up on the telephone and asked
