One of the nicest social affairs
of the approaching holidays oc-
curred at the pretty home of Mr.
and Mrs. J. P. Moss on Dec. 20,
which was an occasion of much
joy and merriment. It being the
58th birthday of Mrs. Mattie
Bryant. Her children surprised
her very much by giving her a
big dinner in her honor. Plates
were laid for 50 guests. She was
the recipient of many beautiful
and costly presents, one of the
prettiest presents was a beauti-
ful bar broach pin of jet and
pearls, given to her by her three
sons. The out-of-town guests
present were Mrs. Rogers and
daughter, Miss Marillis, of Den-
ton county, M rs. Dave Williams
and daughter, Miss Ruth, of
Garland, Rich Gray and family
of Dublin, Rome Bran and lady
of Dublin, Mrs. Fid Wheeler and
baby of Dallas, and several others
whom we failed to learn their
names. We join her many rela-
tives and friends in sincerely
wishing for her many happy re-
turns of the day.
Rev. L. R. Silencer and lady
of Garland came out and spent a
part of Christmas Day with Mrs.
J. P. Pilliod and family.
Quite a crowd of young folks,
old folks and married folks gath-
|erecl at the home of Mrs. J. P.
Pilliod last Friday night. A right
merry time they had until a late
■■ hour with music and song and
" various games.

to take Christmas dinner. There
was two nice Christmas trees in
the community Tuesday night,

were well attended.
