Price Interpreting Committee for Oraige Federal Food Administration for
Texas, Thos. C. Fo-d, Chairman.
Idtr attention of the merchantsJs called to the fact that the Federal Food
\dministration has ruled that the* retaler must not charge for butter and for
cheese more than five to six cents per pound above his actual cost. That
in no ease can lie charge more than one cent per pound above bis Cost for
sugar. We are instructed by the Food Administrator to warn the merchants
that they must observe strictly the rule of having every customer properly
sign tin* sugar slips and that these slips be turned in to him everv Monday
"* or otherwise the merchant failing to do so will not be issued anv sugar cer-
tificates.
The attention of the public is called to the fact that since the above rul-
ing lias been made regarding the price for which the retailer can sell his
butter, the WIIOLF.SALL pxijjy advanced more than d’WKLVF CF.XTS
PF.U POI ND. That explains why you are paying more for butter than vou
ever did, while the retailer is not making enough to pnv him for handling
it. 1‘lie same thing applies to cheese. Since the retailers selling price lias
been fixed at five and six cents, the WHOLF.SALF. PHK’K has
advanced so often that Ibe committee finds itself unable to fix a selling
price. This explanation is made in justice to the retailer who gets {lie
blame for the high prices over which be has no control.

tioned at Fort Sill, Okla\, is expected
