EIGHT PERMITS FOR $2,400
ISSUED DURING FIRST
THREE MONTHS
Building activities continued at
low ebb in Sweetwater for the
first quarter of the year, al-
though there was encouraging in-
crease of small repairing and re-
modeling projects, according to
building records at city hall.
In the first three months of the
year permits were issued for only
$2,400 in construction work, the
records showed. Eight permits
were issued, including six for resi-
dence and business building re-
pairs and two for new structures.
Permits by month were as fol-
lows: January, four for $1,155;
C. Brand, February, two for $700; March,

Previous conventions have been
j held in each of these cities. Miner-
al Wells was the scene of two
previous conventions, 1919 and
1925. Amarillo entertained the
1926 convention, San Angelo was
the scene of the 1923 meeting and
Plainview entertained the 1922
convention. It was at the Plain-
view convention that the band
contest orginated, that for many
years was an outstanding feature
of the West Texas Convention.
Selection of the convention
city is the final activity scheduled
for the Big Spring convention.

Surprising savings. You'll probably be surprised to
hear that statistics show that 44 per cent of the old houses
in Sweetwater can be completely modernized into com-
fortable homes for less than $600. Imagine such com-
fort at such a cost.
