Notes

Dee R. Barbee (1889-1964), his son Durwood (1909-1988), and his son-in-law Don Bramlett (1912-1991) built a network of businesses in Dublin on Grafton St. between Blackjack and Elm. Barbee started a used implement business on Elm in 1937, then moved into a rock building on the corner in 1943. They sold John Deere tractors and implements and bought the building that had been the Utterback-Harris farm implement department on the west side of Grafton St. The grand opening was July 14, 1945. They started selling Maytag washers and other appliances there, and in 1948 they modernized the old implement building and several others across the street, including the Pontiac dealership, old firehall, butane and appliance business, and filling station and garage. The grand opening for all the modernized buildings was in 1949, and Ralph Rogers made exterior and interior photographs.
