The Howard twins, Joan and
Louan, were honored with a party
on their 11th birthday Sunday aft-
ernoon, March 19.
The honorees received many at-
tractive gifts. Games provided en-

“TEXAS DAY” PROGRAM
Mrs. Hubert Tindall was hostess
to the Athenaeum Club Friday aft-
ernoon, with a "Texas Day" pro-
gram.
Roll call was answered with a
r arllamentary law. “Big Spring”
was discussed by Mrs. William F.
Holmes and Mrs. W. 8. Pendleton
gave “Interesting Facts About
Texas.”
Refreshments were served at the
close of the program. Guests pres-
ent were: Mines. Jack Montgomery,
Rufus Dodgen, Walter Darlington,
Jr„ Gus Leftwich, Earl Kromer and
S. L. Draper.

hostess to the 'Times Club Thurs-
day afternoon.
The program was given by guest
artists. Mrs. Rufus Dodgen reviewed
“White Cliffs” by Alice Druer. A
quartet composed of Mrs. Lyle
Holmes, Mrs. Roy Boatright, Mrs.
S. L. Draper and Mrs. Walter Pen-
dleton, Jr, sang "Indian Dw.wn”
and “Sylvia” with Miss Mary
Elizabeth Pendleton as accompan-
ist.
Refreshments were served at the
close of the program. Guests pres-
ent were: Mmes Hubert Tindall,
Dodgen, B. F. Holmes, Flake
George, W. S. Pendleton, J. H. Cap-
erton, Frank Mitcham of Wheeler,

The Northside Circle of the
WJ3.C.S. met In the home of Mrs.
Richard Harvey Monday afternoon
of last week.
Mrs. D F. Spruill led the opening
prayer. The lesson from "No Longer
Strangers” was given by Mrs. J. M.
Adams and Mrs. John B. Harvey.
Refreshments were served dur-
ing the social hour to the follow-
ing: Mmes. D. J. Bulls, Spruill,
Chester 'Tindall, Harvey, J. H. Cap-
erton, A. R. Hugg, Herhchel Glass,
L. E. DePew, Wm. F. Holmes, Ethel
Darlington, Howard Weatherby,

home of Mrs. Jack Montgomery,
with Mrs. Huey Cook presiding.
The meeting opened with sen-
tence prayers. Mrs. J. B. Zeigler
gave the devotional. The lesson
from "No Longer Strangers” was
given by Mrs. Gus Leftwich and
Mrs. Margie Fleener. The meeting
was closed with the Mlzpah.

MRS. JOHN O’GORMAN
IS HOSTESS TO GUILD
The Saint Patrick’s Altar Guild
met in the home of Mrs. John
O’Gorman Wednesday afternoon of
last week.
Miss Cecelia O’Gorman presided
over the business session. Plans
were made to meet at the Red
Cross production room to help with
the work on thrift afghans.
During the social hour refresh-
ments were served to Father An-
drew Quante, guest, and the follow-
ing members: Mrs. Roger O’Gor-
man, Mrs. J. P. Harrington, Mrs,
Robert. Roach and Misses Cecelia
and Florence O'Gorman.

FINE ARTS HOSTESS
The Fine Arts Club met with
Miss Re Lummus as. hostess Thurs-
day evening.
A profusion of cut flowers mads
the entertaining rooms attractive.
"Tongue Twisters” were given in
answer to roll call. Ttie program
was "Speech Patterns.”
Mrs. Blaine Puckett gave the pro-
gram on new words, pronunciation
and what a good voice can do for
you.
A salad plate was served and
corsages of violets given for favors.
