RAMSDELL, May 4.—Mr. and Mrs.
Lewis Powell visited relatives at
Pakan Saturday and Sunday.
Tom Franks and Roy Powell re-
turned Monday night from Groom,
where they have been for several
days.
E. Exum was badly hurt when an
automobile in which he was riding
was wrecked last Thursday night.
His left leg was broken and he sus-
tained other injuries. He was taken
to the hospital at Amarillo Saturday
night.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gibbins moved
to Groom Friday. Guy Sixe has
taken Mr. Gibbins' place here.
Mr. and Mrs. Ferd Bones and son,
Elmo, visited in Me lean Monday.
W. M. Bolton of Mobeetie visited
friends here Monday.
Mrs. Franks and children and Mrs.
Ferd Bones visited in the Walter
Bones home at Shamrock Thursday
afternoon.
Jim Hankins returned Saturday
from Geary, Okla., where he has
been for treatment.
Mr. and Mrs. Caleb Smith, John
Hmciar and son, John, Jr., and John
Cadra.
Those from this neighborhood who
were in Shamrock Saturday were
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Macina and family,
Joe VitUencik, Paul Ftak and son,
Paul, Jr., Sam, Sam, Anna and Kris-
tina Pakan, R. Janota and the Linkey
boys.

HEALD, May 3.—Mrs. Nida Rippy
Green and Mrs. Kester Rippy enter-
tained the young folks in the Rippy
home Tuesday night. A large crowd
attended and a nice time was enjoyed
by all.
The farmers of this community
are very busy now preparing for
planting.
Miss Thelma Hawthorn underwent
an operation for appendicits at the
Shamrock General Hospital Friday
night. At last report she was doing
nicely.
Miss Prebble McRee left Wednes-
day night for Newark, after closing
a seven and one-half months’ term
of school.
LOCUST GROVE, May 4. Mr.
and Mrs. J. T. Reid and family of
Borger visited with friends here
Monday.
Mrs. W. A. McKinney is having a
house built in Shamrock and will
move there in the near future.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Terrell of Mc-
Lean were guests in the W. O. Brod-
nax home Wednesday night.
Bill Wright and children, Viola,
Dorothea and Frank, returned home
Wednesday from Dallas, where Mr.
Wright has been undergoing treat-
ment. He is reported to be improved.
The little primer class enjoyed a
picnic in the Cantrell grove Thursday
afternoon.
C, H. Riley loaded a car of shelled
corn this week for T. F. Connelly,
grain buyer at Clarendon.
A large crowd attended the ball
game here Friday evening, locust
Grove vs. Kelton. The locust girls
defeated the Kelton girls by a score
of 11 to 2 and the Locust boys won
by a score of 20 to 3. No game has
been matched for next week.
Mrs. Ed Robertson is suffering this |
week with blond poisoning in her
right hand.
C. H. Riley and daughters, Lillian
und Evelyn, visited with relatives
and friends at Clarendon Friday and
Saturday.
The farmers are very busy prepar-
ing their land for another crop.
Many have already planted maize and
cotton.
A. A. Coons and son of Plymouth
PORTER FLAT, May 4.—Farmers
of this community are beginning to
plant their crops.
Ray England from Mena, Ark., is
visiting in the home of his brother,
Otis England.
Mr. and Mrs. Gierhart entertained
with a party Friday night.
Mrs. May Willingham visited in
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ross
Sutherland at Wellington, Sunday.
Miss Errie Friday returned from
Erick, Okla., Thursday and spent a
few days with Mr. and Mrs. J. A.
Welch.
H. L. Willingham made a business
trip to Childress Friday.
Mr. Durham and family visited in
the home of Mr. Durham's brother
at Wellington Sunday.
Miss Ida Whialey is visiting in the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Suther-
land at Wellington.
Otis Sammons, who has been visit-
ing in the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Will Sammons left Friday for Fort
Bliss.
Clyde Green and Miss Maye Settle-
re y re accompanied Miss Errie Fri-
day to Amarillo, Sunday afternoon.
Miss Friday will spend a few days
there with relatives before returning
to her home at Blooming lllrove.
J. A. Welch and sons, Elward,
Hoyt and Orttn; Basel Willingham,
Clyde Settlemvre and Misses Maye
Settlemyre and Errie Friday spent
Saturday night on Cole Creek fishing.
Lots of fish were caught and all had
a very enjoyable time.
