(Steele’s step sons.) who, in my last
wrote you that the Indians had tak-

Their bodies-were found about two
miles from Steel's ranch; also the
bodies of two more of Steel’s shep-

five persons that were killed at
Steel’s ranch, and one shepheid

London, May 1.—The Times cor-
respondent at Sail Stefano says that
die impression D the Russian ai my
is that General Tcdieben’s appoint-
ment portends strife. He contin-
ued : “I am t 1 1 that Gi 1 tends 1 od-
leben and Imeritcn: ky both think
war inevitable. The men are be-
ginning to talk more of war. The
appeal mice of the troops and herses
when the Grand Duke Nicholas took
his farewell, on Saturday, was very
satisfuctoiy.”
The Vienna correspondent of the
Times draws serious attention to the
awkward position of Russians, and
points out how they are confronted
at Constantinople by an army su-
perior to anything the Turks have
concentrated at one point through-
out the war—an army according to
the lowest estimates, numbering sev-
enty thousand men.
Tne Mussulman insurrection also
appears to be growing serious. It
involves not only the whole northern
half of the Phodepe range, but, ac-
cording to all accounts, is spreading
to the Balkans. The insurgi nts are
endeavoting to gain strategti : j/ litil >
in a wav that shows the existence of
a directing head.
The various Vienna correspon-
dents, except the Times’, who is si-
lent on the point, persistently main-
tain that the Austrian occupation of
Bosnia is imminent.
No change for the worse in the
condition of Prince GorUciiokoIf has
taken place.
It is stated that Lord Beaconsfield
