arded the Teacher Excel-
lence Award for 1975.
The award is presented
annually by the College and
First State Bank to a PJ C
teacher selected by the stu-
dents, staff and administra-
tion.
Miss Arnold is the third
recipient of the award which
in addition to the honor in-
cludes a $500 check from
the First State Bank.
Miss Arnold is a native
of Beaumont. She received
her BA degree from Baylor
and her master of education
from the University of
Houston.
Miss Arnold is a member
of the Central Baptist Chu-
rch where she teaches a
Bible class to young people.
She is sponsor of the Race
Relations Club.
Miss Arnold, is working
I with a project now to in-
volve Black students at
the college in recording
their heritage through in-
terviews with older black
residents.
Those interviews are
]being published in a mag-
azine called Black Gold,

Arnold wins
teaching award
LILA LOVELADY and the minuteman. May's cover
girl inspects a fireplug painted to resemble a minute
man in a bicentennial contest held in Carthage. Lila
has also been voted by the paper's staff as cover-
girl of the year for 1974 - 197 5. She's been active
in the Student Senate, Choir, Pipers, and Green
Jackets. She was also named as a beauty in the All-
Campus Beauty Pageant.
