CONFERENCE JOURNAL
OPENING DAY.
The Central Texas Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South,
being one of the conferences into which the original Northwest Texas Con-
ference was divided by the General Conference in May, 1910, convened in
its first annual session-the forty-fifth session from the date of organization
of the original Northwest Texas Conference-in the Methodist Church in
Waxahachie, Texas, at nine o'clock a. m. Wednesday, the 16th day of No-
vember, 1910.
Bishop James Atkins called the Conference to order and conducted the
opening worship as follows:
Hymn No. 560:
And are we yet alive
And see each others face.
Prayer, led by the Bishop.
Reading and exposition of a part of St. Paul's letter to the Ephesians.
Hymn: Come thou fount of every blessing.
The roll was called by Jno. M. Barcus, the Secretary of the last session
of the old Northwest Texas Conference.

The following lay alternates were seated in place of absent principals:
Wm. Lambdin, vice H. L. Hunter, from Waco District.
F. F. Downs, vice A. F. Bentley, from Georgetown District.
J. C. Watkins, vice I. H. Turney, from Brownwood District.
Jno. .M. Barcus was elected Secretary and on his nomination Jno. R.
Morris, S. J. Rucker, J. B. Berry, C. H. Buchanan and E. P. Williams were
elected assistants. The last three were named as Statistical Secretaries.
Jerome Duncan, for the Presiding Elders, submitted a revised list of the
Standing Rules of the original Northwest Texas Conference, which, with
some minor amendments, were adopted by the Conference.

Jerome Duncan read the Standing Committees and the Boards for the
ensuing quadrennium as nominated by the Presiding Elders and they were
elected.

Question 6.-Who are received as transfers from other Conferences? was
called several times and the following were announced: George Smallwood,
Bertie E. Kimbro, Chas. H. Little, R. B. Young, J. WV. Childress, D. C. Stark,
G. F. Harris, J. H. Stewart, J. U. McAfee, J. T. Bloodworth and C. W. Irvin,
