day night the City council order-

Purchased Blood Hounds',
nonstable D. .McLaughlin, of
Granger, was in town Saturday
on business. Mr. McLaughlin
hafl recently purchased . two fine
blood hounds from" a ,party near
Cameron. They are well trained

District court is In the midst of
its filth week, and is disposing of
many cases, some of which have
been on docket two or three
years.
The grand jury was reconvened
Saturday, and at noon today
(Wednesday) reported a total of
eleven indictments, nine felonies,
and two misdemeanors. Of those
under arrest, Wiley Hale, W
Shannon, and several Mexicans
were" indicted for burglary.,
Theft and gaming are principally
the dther charges.
This week will close .thq crimi-
nal docket and civil business will
be closed up next week, which is

Now that wo are to ,have a
railroad through our community
to Davilla via Bartlett from Corn
Hill, we write this week with a-
lacrity. "Won't it bo grand to see
1 the cars speeding along through
the fields, where we can step on
and take a ride at will. Of
course wo will forget our prime-
val state and think that we are
in the suburbs of. Now York.
Farmers are making the plows
realize what they are made for
during these pretty days. The
ground is two wet yot for culti-
vation in plucea, yet it will be-
come dry by and by, as' was de-
monstrated last yeir.

eron was visiting her sister Mies
Delia Losvosky.
- The school, under the proficient
management of Porf. Yates and

A Large Turnip
. On last Saturday .the' editor of
the Tribune was the recipient of
two large turnips raised by ' Mr.
J. C. Crtink, of Davilla. Thd
larger of them weighed 1 2 pounds
andmeasured 34 inches circum
ference, which, with perhaps one
.or two exceptions, is the largest on
.record in Texas, this tyear, Mr.
Crunk stated- that tliey were
raised without any artificial means

littlo son,. Erviri, who died' on tho
night of Jan .30th, agod 1 yoar ,4
months. He was . playing with
his brothers near a blazing stump
when his olothoa became ignited,
aud bofore assistance could roach
him ho was so badly burned that
death resulted in about 5 hours,
and relieved him of his sufferings
