Messrs. Joslin & Howe At your request I herewah transmit to

About five years ago Mrs. Wimer was attacked with a violent
cough, pain in the cheat and side and symptoms of approaching con-
sumption. During ihe intervals from that time until February last,
she had been treated by eminent Physicians, from TJtica, Sylvania,
Horner, Baiham and Newark, and with only partial relief of the
mo3t urgent oymptoms. About one year ago she caught a violent
cold which seated upon the lungs, producing a violent aggravation
of all her previous symptoms. Her Physicians weiesentlor, and de-
spite their best efforts sue began rapidly to sink under her disease
Cough, Expectorant, Hectic, together with night sweats, soon re.
duced her to a complete skeleton. In February last her attending
Physicians deemed her case altogether hope. ess a counsel was call-
ed and after deliberating upon hercase unanimously pronounced her
to be beyond the" reach of medical means, and expressed their opinion
that she could survive but a short lime one or two weeKs at the far-
thest. She was at this time entirely confined to her bed, and scarce-
ly able to artii ulate except in a whisper. Her daily paroxysms ol
coughing would last her uninterruptedly from three to four hours,
and sd severe -were they, that we didexptct that every paroxysm
would be the last. The; physicians in counsel pronoumed her
Lungs, Liver, Kidneys, Spine, and Membrane of the stomach to be
Incuratiiy diseased." It was at the"last extremity, that we'happened
to obtain a pa'inphlet describing Dr. Wistar's Balsam of Wild.Cherry,
as applicable to' Lung affections. We immediately sent to you and
