. fiation har they consented to the undertaking. Butthe previous
edition amounting-to about three thousand copies, and which
had, cost the State more than thirty-thousand dollars, was- en-

upon every individual of the State, interested either in agri-

TOWN OF SWARTjWOUT This town U located in Uw.
county of Liberty, on the Trinity river, one hundred mi I a
above Galveston Bay-, by the road, and two hundred by watey
sixty milestby land, and one hundred and twenty by walei,
above the town of Liberty. It is pleasantly situated on the east
bank of the river; that part which fronts the fiver, measuring
sixty feet above the level of the water, and back from the river
one hundred and twenty feet. It is at that spot known as
1 Garners ferry' and fronts six hundred yards on the river.
The ferry at this place is passable, at all times, n hen other
ferries overflow and are impassable, or require a ferriage of
miles through the'bottoms.
Swartwoutis situated' in as fine a region of country as can
be found in Texas high and healthy finely timbered intei-
spersed occasionally with prairies and numerous mill- seats.
Families who have resided in the vicinity of the town, have
test'd the health of the place. Several springs or veins of excellent
water issue from the bank of the river, above high-water inaik,
immediately in front of the town. In iact a more prominent
situation-for a town, in point, of general convenience, health,
&c, could not have been lound from the mouth of the Trinity
to its source.
There is fine river navigation for steam-boats from the Eaf
to far above Swartwout; the steam:boat 'Branch T. Archer,'
captianRoss, having ascendeda considerable distance above
that, last summer.
A hotel and several dwelling are now being bnilt in the
town, and several other buildings are to be completed by the
1st of January; among which is a place of public worship, a
seminary lor children, (of which there is a number in the im-
mediate vicinity of the town,) has been opened and an aca li-
my will bi built duriug the next year, in which th -re will In
both male and female teachers employed. A more specuilile
or moral community cannot be found than that an ,nd Swart-
wout. There are professing christUns of different denomi-
nations in its immediate .neighborhood. There is a house ol
entertainment now at Swartwout, and others in the neighli it-
hood: It is the nearest and most direct route from Nacogdochw

1TY OF ARANSAS. This location situate on Live-Oul.
Point, a peninsula projecting into the heart of Aransaso
Bay; is two well known to need either eulogy or description.
The pass into this Bay, if not the best, is certainly not surpas-
sed by any on the coast of Texas, either for its depth of t a-
ter or other advantages. The Pilots during the past summer
have invariably reported twelve feet water on the bar. This
depth of water may be easily imagined when it is known that
the large bay of Corpus Christi - which extends itself to the
Brazos de' Sanlaigo -is principally supplied'with its immense
sheet of water through this bay, as the best 'and safest pass
into it is through the, bay of Aransaso; -which affords good an
chorage and perfect security for vessels in stopny weather,
Live-Oak Point can be approached on two sides with twelve feet
of water; having also, an abundant supply of excellent fresh
water.
The surrounding bays cannot be surpassed either in variety,
quality and quantity of fresh oysters, turtle '&c, with an abund-
ant supply of wildfowel atthe proper seasons.
And independent ol its claims as a commercial point, which
cannot be doubted by any one possessing a topographical
knowledge of the country, its great elevation and it umbra-
geous Livk Oaks, with its"' surrounding scenery, renders il
probably one of the most desirable, locations;on the whole .coast.
This town cpmmenced improving during the past suinmet,-
and has now some, ten ,or "fifteen good buildings, and, otheis
going on as fast as circumstances will permit. ''
The proprietors, 'are well awarelhat- the situation-of th-j
country at present will not warrant "any thing like a" fair salt

BURLESON The town of Burleson is situated on the east
bank of the Colorado, river, on a beautiful prairie blull;
about one hundred and fifty miles above the mouth of the rivet,
possessing nearly every advantge necessary to make it one of tin:
most conspiscuous places on the river. There are several nc
er failing springs of good Jwater, and plenty cf good timber
quite convenient, such as pine, cedar, and a large quantity ot
other valuable timber; also, rock for building. This will lie
on the main crossing from eastern to western Texas. The sm-
rounding country is rich and fertile, much might be said of
this site, but it only requires an examination to satisfy any
person that this is one of the most likely points on tha'nven In
be a considerable place of business.
The lots are laid off in about a quarter of an acre each, and
will be let out in shares of four lots to' a, share, and Ihen, so soon
as'nracticable. drawn for. Thev are to be four lots to a sh:.i r ,
at one hundred dollats, each. ' "
t All persons who wisEto lnvest - capitalJxAjrsliAioiM -
nronertv. would do welLtb call and examine for thamselves.
This town is about 25 miles aboye Lagrangefand 12 mileu
below Bastrop; and when the counties are laid offagreeably In
their constitutional bounds, this place' will stand as good a
chance to become a county seat asany other.
The health is good the other advantages equal.

P. S. The plan of drawing the numbers of the lots in tlm
town of Burleson, is as follows: '
Two of the prime lots to each share will first be placed in n
hat, then drawn. The balance also placed in a hat and 'drawn.
Each share will draw two good lots, and a : chance for the bal-
ance. The blocks are eight chains two feet square. The lots aie
two chains six inches wide in front, and four chains twelve in-
ches long. The w harf or river street three chains wide, thri c
broad streets two chains wide. All the balance of the -streets
one chain' wide. The course of the river north ,50 deg. west.
The drawing will take place so soon as the shares are sold.
