Dr Morris Bennett who has
had his dental office upstairs In
the credit association building
ever since he came to Canadian
In 1930 moved this week to the
new building on Main street
formerly occupied by Dr Sam

who has his office open here
every Tuesday will also be

Mrs A B Hamlin was ad-
mitted tothe new hospital for
medical treatment Thursday
Mrs Sleta Jennings was quite
ill last week at her home In
Tulla She Is still very weak but
able to be up and around
Earl Laughry arrived here re-
cently from Lubbock He Is a
nephew of Mrs A N Laughry
His mother Mrs Esther Laughry
moved here last May

dian has been appointed Baylor
Stadium Campaign chairman for
Hemphill county by James Cobb
of Amarlllo area chief in the
Panhandles part of the state-

The Canadian Rebckah lodge
surprised Mrs Carrie Page with
a food pounding Tuesday eve-
ning at the lodge hall The time
was spent in visiting and punch
and cookies were served to the
approximately twenty guests

New Hospital Has
3 Patients Tuesday
The new Hemphill County
Memorial hospital had three
patients Tuesday the first day
It was opened for emergency

Tho first patient was Wayne
Marker of the Big Chief oil
company who received medi-
cal attention Second patient
was Charles Vlgnal who
underwent an operation for
appendicitis at seven oclock
In the evening Then at 1032
that night Karen Lynn Jones
the hospitals first baby was
born
The hospital will be open
to the public for Inspection Sun-
day afternoon from two until
five oclock and everyone Is
urged to stop In and look It over
It represents so much hard work
on the part of so many of our
citizens and so many have do-
nated money and given un
stlntlngly of their aid In other
ways that the culmination of
the efforts of these good people
should be a time of general re-
joicing and thankfulness Jhat
our community boasts such un-
selfish and publicspirited per-
sons
The hospital will ho opened
officially at seven oclock Mon-
day morning
Dr R G Oylcr 68yearold
Woodward dentist died atthe
hospital there Monday morning
after an Illness of only a few
days He had worked In his office
at Woodward from 1919 until tho
day of his death He was the
father of Mrs Delbert Gibson
whose husband managed the
Best Way store here a few years
ago
The ladles of the Church of
Christ practice hymns for all
occasions at tho church every
Tuesday night at 730 All ladles
are Invited to work with them
whether they are members of
the church or not
Mrs R H Stone was surprised
by a few friends Tuesday eve-
ning and a very pleasant time
was had by all The occasion was

And Implements
Ed Stephensons barn was des-
troyed this Friday afternoon when
fire broke out in a small fillin
station on the Stephenson property
near the Pavlovsky residence
The fire which Is thought to
have been caused by faulty
wiring quickly spread to the
barn and completely destroyed
tho 100x00 foot structure
