Delta Chi Rho-Shall be a social-service organization open to worn- Student Affairs
en students who the members feel fulfill highest spiritual ideals and
evidence the desire to participate as an asset to the club.
Delta Omicron International Music Fraternity. The purpose of
Delta Omicron is to inspire closer friendship among women music
students, to encourage high scholarship, to develop character and leadership,
and to stimulate greater growth in the performance and appreciation
of good music.
Delta Omicron Sigma. The purpose of this organization shall be to
promote scholarship, character, improvement, brotherhood, and social
activity within the membership.
Democracy-in-Action. Democracy-in-Action is a program of voluntary
student study about government in a free society, designed to
stimulate a faith and responsibility which will lead to positive action in
preserving and strengthening the principles of freedom.
The year's study is climaxed by a week of emphasis on Democracyin-Action
during which outstanding authorities are brought to the
campus to discuss with the students the topics with which they have
been concerned in the program.
Gamma Beta Phi. The Alpha chapter of this national scholarship
society was organized on the Howard Payne University campus in 1965,
as the first chapter in Texas. Students who were members of their
high school Beta Clubs are eligible for membership when they enter
college. Others who attain a grade point average of 3.35 during any
semester are also eligible-all members must maintain the academic
standards thereafter in order to remain active.
International Club. This club sponsors programs designed to bring
a mutual understanding of the social, political, and spiritual attitudes
of different nations. All international students of the college are invited
to membership.
Kappa Delta Pi. The Theta Upsilon chapter of this honor society in
Education for men and women was organized on the Howard Payne
College campus in 1958. Students in the teacher education field who
are in the upper twenty percent of the scholastic achievement of the
institution and who are recommended by faculty members are invited
to become members.
Kappa Kappa Psi. An honorary band fraternity for men.
Mu Sigma Theta. Mu Sigma Theta is a service and social University
honorary sorority for bandswomen which operates exclusively in the
field of Howard Payne University bands.
Phi Epsilon Mu. This club is composed of men and women physical
education majors and minors who are interested in creating and maintaining
professional interest in their field. 35
