Major requirements for the BA in Christian
Ministry/Preaching are as follows:
1. Ministry, 15 hrs: BIBM 401, 403, 486; 434, 435,
436, or 437; and 493 or 494 (may not duplicate
courses chosen in the Bible Core above).
Greek
Major requirements for the BA in Greek are as follows:
1. Greek, 15 hrs.: BGRK 311, 312, 411, 412, and 421,

Youth and Family Ministry
Major requirements for the BA in Youth and Family
Ministry are as follows:
1. Ministry, 15 hrs.: BIBM 312, 340, 410, 435, 442.
General Electives
To obtain 128 hours required for the BA in Biblical text,
Christian Ministry/Preaching, Greek, or Youth and Family
Ministry, the student must take 6 hours of general electives,
arranged to ensure 33 advanced hours. Electives may
include deficiency requirements in science.
BACHELOR OF SCIENCE
The Department of Undergraduate Bible and Ministry
offers the Bachelor of Science with majors in Christian
Ministry/Preaching and Youth and Family Ministry.
Admission Requirements
Before being admitted to this program, a student must
satisfy the requirements listed under "Initial Academic
Programs," p. 15.
General Education Requirements
General Education requirements (University and Degree
Core requirements) for the BS are listed on p. 20 (each
semester, a course in Bible, English, and PE must be taken
by every freshman and sophomore student). COMS 112,
Fundamentals of Human Oral Communication, a
"religious emphasis" section and BIBL 420 are required in
the University Core; BIBM 409 is required in the BS
Degree Core.
Departmental Requirements
Bible Core courses for the BS in all majors are as follows:
1. Text, 12 hrs.: 3 hrs. Old Testament chosen from
BIBL 451, 452, 453, or 454; 3 hrs. gospel chosen
from BIBL 355, 359, or 458; 3 hrs. Pauline epistles
chosen from BIBL 357, 362, 363, 460, or 461; and
3 hrs. New Testament chosen from BIBL 365, 367,
464, or 466.2. Christian Ministry, 15 hrs.: BIBM 391, 392, 430,
438; and 493 or 494.
3. Greek, 6 hrs.: BGRK 111, 112.
4. Missions, 6 hrs.: 346, 420.
5. Church history, 6 hrs.: BIBH 381 or 382, and 383.
Christian Ministry/Preaching
Major requirements for the BS in Christian
Ministry/Preaching are as follows:
1. Ministry, 15 hrs.: BIBM 401 and 403; 434, 435,
436, or 437; 493 or 494; 486 (may not duplicate
courses chosen in the Bible core above).
Youth and Family Ministry
Major requirements for the BS in Youth and Family
Ministry are as follows:
1. Ministry, 15 hrs.: BIBM 312, 340, 410, 435, and
442.
General Electives
To obtain 128 credit hours, the student seeking the BS in
Christian Ministry/Preaching or Youth and Family Ministry
must take 12 hours of general electives, arranged to ensure
33 advanced hours. Electives may include deficiency
requirements in science.
Minor in Biblical Studies
Purpose for a Bible Minor: The idea of the Bible Minor is
to encourage General Education students to take Bible
Courses that will deepen their knowledge of the Scriptures
and make them more valuable ministers in the Lord's
church. A deeper knowledge of textual matters will
enhance the future church worker's ability to enrich the
congregation in which that person ministers.
In addition to 15 hours of General Education requirements
(BIBL 101, 102, 201, 202 and 1 upper-level text course),
9 hours are required, chosen from any upper-level course
in the Bible department listed under Ministry, History,
Doctrine, or Textual.
Certificate in Vocational Ministry
A total of 30 hours are required for the Certificate in
Vocational Ministry. The student must work with his/her
adviser and the Undergraduate Bible department chair to
determine the elective to be chosen.
1. General Education, 15 hrs.: BIBL 101, 102, 201,
202, and upper-level textual course.
2. Vocational Ministry, 15 hrs.: BIBL 460; BMIS 346
or 420; BIBH 383; BIBM 438, and a 3-hour elective
from the Bible department.
