5396. Physical Chemistry II.
Continues with the introduction of the rate of laws of chemical kinetics with a correlation of their
theoretical aspects with the thermodynamic properties, mechanisms, and catalysis of various
reaction types. Also discusses the modern theory of the atom, the nature of the chemical bond, and
the structure of solids and liquids. Prerequisite: Chemistry 3395, or consent of the instructor.
5196. Physical Chemistry Laboratory II (1-3).
Performs laboratory experiments to demonstrate the fundamental principles of physical chemistry
discussed in the lecture portion of the courses, including the use of a variety of instrumental
techniques. Prerequisite: Credit for or registration in Chemistry 5396.
5397. Introduction to Theoretical Chemistry.
Sets forth the theoretical principles of quantum and statistical mechanics, and their application for
calculating and interpreting the structural, spectral, and thermodynamic properties of molecules.
Discusses crystal structure and other structural methods. Prerequisite: Chemistry 5396 or consent of
instructor. Open to qualified physics students.
5398. Senior Laboratory.
Activities in the laboratory. May either be a programmed sequence or special project under faculty
direction.

A study of marriage and family life roles; relationships, and functions in their social context.

Reading and analysis of major dramatic works from both Spain and Latin America. Emphasis on

An overview of major literary works from the Colonial Period to the Twentieth Century.

An overview of major literary works from the Middle Ages to the Twentieth Century.
5384. Hispanic Novel.
Reading and analysis of selected novels and short stories from both Spain and Latin America.
Emphasis on 19th and 20th century novels.
