and families. Prerequisites: At least 3 semester credits in coursework related to the family or consent
of instructor.

Impact of economic, social, and psychological forces in meeting the clothing needs of family members
throughout the life cycle. Wardrobe planning, buying procedures, and children's clothing
included.
5353. Nutrition in Disease.
Study of the physiology of nutrition and disease and the nutritional management of patients.
5354. Clothing Design and Construction.
Interrelated factors in fitting, flat pattern design and clothing construction. Includes garment construction
with emphasis on couture techniques.
5355. Food Service Systems Management.
Study of problems encountered in food service management including quantity food preparation and
purchasing, institutional organization, supervision, and financial control.
5364. Tailoring.
Custom and dressmaker tailoring techniques. Construction of a coat or suit.
5378. Guidance in Early Childhood.
Fundamental principles underlying behavior and methods of working with young children.
Minimum of 30 hours nursery school participation required. Prerequisite: 2333.

5374. Methods of Teaching Industrial Subjects.
Problems and techniques involved in planning and presenting course content in industrial education.
5380. Advanced Machine Woods.
Production methods of construction, finishing materials and processes, introductory upholstery
techniques, and materials testing.
5382. Materials and Processes of Industrial Technology.
Man and his changing environment with research and experimentation concerning machines,
processes, and materials.
6300. Guided Study.
Selected research problems in the area of industrial education.
MATHEMATICS AND COMPUTER SCIENCE
5342. Numerical Analysis. (Offered each Fall.)
More advanced methods of solution of selected topics surveyed in Math 2317 including error analysis.
Solution of linear systems of equations by direct and iterative methods. Matrix inversion and the
evaluation of determinants. Eigen-values and eigenvectors of matrices. Matrix solution of least
squares problems. Simplex solution of linear programming problems. Selected algorithms to be
solved using the computer. Prerequisites: Math 2317 and Math 3325.
5362. College Geometry. (offered every spring)
An extension of Euclidean geometry learned in high school. Includes some constructions,
foundations and methods of proof in Euclidean geometry essential to the secondary teacher of mathematics.
An introduction to non-Euclidean geometry. Designed for teacher training.
