4352. Feeds and Feeding (2-3) [Spring]
Animal feed requirements in reproduction, work,
milk, wool, and meat production. The computation
of rations for livestock on the range and
in the feed lot. Prerequisite: Chem. 2431, Ag.

4353. Range and Pasture Plants (2-3) [Fall]
Identification, classification, grazing and economic
value of native and introduced forage
plants. Injurious plans and their control. Pasture
revegetation and management. Prerequisite:
Ag. 1312 and Biology 1401.4354. Range Science (2-3) [Spring]
The study of planned range use in order to obtain
the maximum livestock production while at
the same time properly using the grasslands of
our country. Range utilization studies, methods
of reseeding range land, and the study of range
improvement techniques. Prerequisite: Ag. 4353.
4355. Wildlife Management (2-3) [Spring]
Principles of animal ecology; life histories, economic,
and management phases of important
species of big game, upland game, waterfowl,
and fish. Recommended for animal husbandry,
range management and biology majors of junior
or senior standing. (Same as Bio. 4355)
4360. Horses and Horsemanship (2-3)
Horse industry. Breeding, feeding and management
principles for light horses. Disease
control. Types and breeds of riding horses,
gaits, grooming, showing, training, and basic
instruction in various riding patterns.

The proper and wise use of all natural resources,
including soils, water, forests, grasslands, and
wildlife, their economics and management. Prerequisite:
Ag. 2433.

control, and marketing. Purebred herd management,
including identification, records, and
performance testing.

Sheep, angora goat, mohair, and wool industry.
Breeding, feeding, disease and parasite control,

research in the field. Senior standing; required of
all agriculture majors in senior year.

Recent advances in the production and improvement
of the major agronomic crops, Particular
attention is given to cotton and grain crops.

4395. Soil Physics (2-3)
The physical properties of soil as affected by
moisture, aeration, and temperature. Tillage, irrigation,
and other soil management practices
are considered. Prerequisite: Ag. 1312, 2433,
and Chem. 1412.
4396. Plant and Animal Breeding [Spring]
Genetics applied to the improvement of crop
plants and domestic animals and methods of selection.
Introduction to basic statistics. (Same
as Bio. 4396) Prerequisite: Biology 3351 (Genetics).33
