The department offers special opportunities
for students of Spanish:
First, you may work and worship with Spanish-speaking
churches in Abilene.
Second, Latin America is brought to the
campus through two methods. Among the
foreign students attending the College are many
from Spanish-speaking backgrounds and countries.
Also, from 25 to 50 school teachers from
Latin American countries spend the second term
each summer in the American Studies Program
at ACC. This program provides daily contact
in the Spanish language with some of the best
representatives of Latin America.
If it is your desire to be a teacher of French,
German, or Spanish, then complete the BSEd
degree in one or more of these languages and
join our teaching graduates throughout the
United States and in many foreign countries.
See the Department of Education section for these
programs.
For the missionary-minded student, be sure
to prepare well in the language while you are
getting your Missions or related degree.
Other careers requiring foreign language
training include airline hostesses, diplomatic
service, secretarial work, civil service work as
a translator or interpreter, government positions,
and business.
