EXTENSION DEPARTMENT 5
Credit and Transcripts.-Courses designed primarily for the individual
classes are numbered 300 to 319 for freshmen, 220 to 249 and
320 to 349 for sophomores, 250 to 299 and 350 and above for juniors
and seniors.
All courses are fully accredited by the Association of Texas Colleges
and the State Department of Education. A transcript of credit can
be issued by the college Registrar upon request of the student after
the course is completed.
Fees.-Tuition: Three semester hours ....-.............. .........$15.00
Two semester hours ....-.........---...... 10.00
Payment of the tuition fee entitles the student to the instruction
service, return postage on graded papers, and a supply of paper and
envelopes on which to submit the assignments. After the registration
has been accepted it is not customary to return the fees.
HOW TO REGISTER
The student should select the course or courses desired, fill out
and return the enrollment form, together with his fees, to the Director
of Extension, Abilene Christian College, Abilene, Texas.
Books and Supplies.-All textbooks and other supplies may be ordered
through the Extension Department by making a deposit. Rental
fees in our special Rental Library range from $0.50 to $2.00 per
volume.
Instructions.-As soon as the student's application for enrollment
is approved, the entire group of lessons with instructions is sent to
him. After the student studies the assignment, the directions, and the
testing questions, he is to submit the first installment to the Extension
Office, where it will be recorded and handed the instructor for grading.
Meanwhile he may proceed with the next assignment pending
return of installment one. He should take up with the Director all
matters except those pertaining to interpretation of an assignment.
Certificates
Courses completed by correspondence lead toward the elementary,
the high school, and the administrative certificates under the provisions
of the state of Texas. Requirements for the certificates are
set forth in the bulletin of the State Department of Education, Laws,
Rules and Regulations Governing State Teachers' Certificates.
OTHER SERVICES
Other services away from the campus include lectures and programs
given by members of the faculty and of the fine arts
department, and provision of judges for interscholastic league
work.5
